  1. Continue to grow and evolve as an individual my friend. Your personality and who you are is an accumulation of your experiences and how you’ve dealt with both your successes and failures. I like your perspective especially in the second half of that last paragraph. Totally understandable that you feel salty, I was too when I didn’t get in for the 2020 cycle. I was sad I won’t lie, but I always knew I was meant to be in this program. I took that year to travel and gain experience and allow my personality to flourish. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. You have what it takes. If not this year, next year, if not that year then the year after. Whatever your dreams may be, never give up and continue to strive for excellence. Now is the time to take a hard look at yourself in the mirror and say what I can do to be a better person, what do I need to work on to be the best version of myself that I can be. Keep up that drive and resilience and things will fall in place. I know it’s tough, but you’re tougher.

    To all prospective dentists

The best thing to do for interviews is be yourself. Answer the questions honestly and to the best of your abilities. People are trying too hard to be someone their not. It’s easy to defend your perspective when you have a belief system backing it up. Everyone is different.
  3. If dental school students held a presentation discussing how they got into dental school what would you like to know? How could we help you? I feel like we have some valuable insights we would like to share and we are working with our faculty to get something like this running, but I wanna know what is most important for you to know? We can discuss our journey to dental school, our experiences with the DAT, and with the interview. Personally I feel that knowledge would have been invaluable to me if it was coming from people who were already admitted. There were so many things I found out after I was admitted that would have been useful for me to know beforehand, but is there anything specific on your mind? What do you want to hear about most?

    Uofa 2021 Acceptance/wl/rejected Thread

We're supposed to confirm by July 10th. I'd say if you haven't heard back by the end of July then it'll probably not happen this year. I was on the waitlist last year so I feel your pain. Honestly though, having the year off was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I was more focused for the DAT, more in tune for the interview, and I saved up money to go travel the world. Thinking back I probably woulda crashed and burned if I got in last year, but with all the time off and having the ability to hit the refresh button I'm more ready than ever to get started. Having the year off gives you the opportunity to focus on things you couldn't focus on before, so if that's the case take full advantage of that. I don't know what all your situations are, but the time will come, for all of you, just like it did for me. Keep working hard, stay motivated, and listen to a lot of Kendrick and J. Cole. If anyone wants any advice just send me a PM, I'd be more than happy to help. This year's group is a lot less vocal on the forums than last year's was so it'll be hard to tell how many will get off the waitlist. I hope for the best guys. I know the feeling.

Just a little joke the competition at this point is yourself. Go out there and knock em dead. You control your destiny.

    Dental School Questions

Well at least for this year that rule doesn't apply. That rule comes into effect next year. On the website it states that the class of 2021 will be selected during the 2016-2017 application cycle and that the "bolded" new rules come into effect during the 2017-2018 application cycle. So that would be starting for the selection of the 2022 class.
  13. Thanks guys I appreciate y'all being real and taking the time to respond to my post and remove a lot of stress from my mind. I'm excited for the future now, not scared of it. Good luck to those writing the DAT with me this Saturday!
