  1. Interesting. I was under the impression that per year tuition at UofA was ~20k according to their website (not sure if that includes equipment fees or not). Even still, UofA fees seem very enticing.
  2. Judging by your description of UofA’s recent overhaul @phil12, I would feel that going to the school with the most up-to-date tech and equipment will allow you to be better prepared when you leave dental school and have to use those technologies in the industry. Better to be acquainted with them in dental school than have to learn after graduating. Not to badmouth UofT, but it seems like a school that has recently invested a lot into updating its facilities seems like a winner to me. And I just took a look at the tuition of UofA and my goodnesssss!! Schools outside of Ontario are such a blessing financially. I would think of it as coming out of dental school with significantly less debt if I went to UofA, compared to if I went to UofT (opportunity costs?).
  3. I found that link on Western’s DDS Admission Requirements page under Grade Conversion - https://www.schulich.uwo.ca/med_dent_admissions/dentistry/admission_requirements.html
  4. @honey97 - use the letter grade on your Mac transcript to find the mid-%age for the corresponding Western range. For example, an A+ would be 95% (halfway between 90 and 100). For a letter grade of A, I used 87% (halfway between 85 and 89). Hopefully that helps. I referred to the OMSAS table - https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/omsas-conversion-table/. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
  5. Hey guys, has anyone received HWL wording via email or student centre letter? Please share!
  6. For those on the waitlist, did anyone receive HWL wording (similar to previous years) in their letter?
  7. Waitlisted GPA: 87-88% AA/PAT/RC: 20/20/20 ECs: Lots of volunteering and shadowing Interview: Had a nice talk with the interviewers. Definitely some tricky questions, but answered all to the best of my ability. Started overthinking my answers after the interview. IP
  8. Invite! IP UWO Average: 88 AA/RC/PAT: 20/20/20
  9. Anyone care to explain why the scale is the way it is? I'm very confused :\
  10. How did you guys find the DAT today? I felt that bio was very fair; chem was easy to get through; PAT went well for the most part, but there were a few TFE and keyhole rock questions that stumped me; RC was going great up until the last passage.. was very pressed for time on that one.
