agree, though sometimes being a guinea pig works out. for example, Mac's new BDC program (biomed discovery & commercialization) basically curved/curves everything when students don't do well because they want program stats to look good (surprise, it is also a BHSc program)

If you are accepted to MAC HealthSci - go there.   Do not think twice about it if your goal is medical school.
The Queens program is brand new and an unknown entity at this point.  Don't intentionally be the Guinea Pig.

Unfortunately no matter how well written the essay, you cannot make up for not having a real Maritime connection.  That essay is the key factor for OOP candidates assuming you have the GPA/MCAT/CASPR.   It's kinda like trying to get into NOSM while living in the GTA all your life - not going to happen.    Note there is only about 50-60 OOP interviews given.
avocado has a reasonable idea if you can swing some summer research at DAL.

The fact that you have no connection will shine through no matter how you want to spin things. Adcoms are no joke.

I get that you obviously feel wronged but being cynical doesn't help in this person's decision making.
I feel that there's so many negative posts recently... if people don't want to contribute beyond cynicism why contribute at all?

Yeah all the letters go out same day... acceptances first, then waitlists, and rejections in the afternoon I believe.

I emailed the admissions office and they told me they'll be out this month lol

For those suggesting NP, you will be extremely hard pressed to find a NP program who will admit a 2.3 nursing gpa, I don’t know of any in Canada honestly  (I’m a RN who is debating between NP and MD). Most programs require a 3.0-3.5 minimum. And usually the minimum won’t get you accepted. I don’t actually think that’s an option for OP anyways.
OP in my opinion if you want to pursue med in Canada or US you will need a second undergrad or enough full time credits in a 2nd undergrad to improve your gpa to an acceptable level. Even overseas/carrib schools will be hard to get accepted with a 2.3.

OP I would think long and hard about pursuing this pathway. Be 100% sure that this is what you actually want and not some idealized view.
The pathway in front of you is no simple feat. As someone who took this path and was successful, I can tell you my approach was calculated. I did my research and went all in to the point that I had nothing extra I could've possibly given. Looking at the current state of where CaRMS is going and the sacrifices you will have to make, I caution you to think of the weight and cost of such a journey.
Not to discourage but to be realistic.
I wish you all the best

    So?
I was a lawyer before I switched to healthcare. So what if I am interested in legal issues surrounding these kind of allegations?
I am not attacking anyones credibility. I am asking for evidence and proof which is what we do in law and also in medicine and in general in everyday life. If that evidence/proof undermines the credibility of the accuser, or of anyone for that matter, hey that is not my fucking fault!
  20. Thanks
Happy_go reacted to mrsarcastic99 in DOCTOR SUSPENDED FOR COMING FORWARD ABOUT SEXUAL HARASSMENT
She is alleging she was suspended for reporting sexual harassment.
NOSM is alleging she was not suspended for reporting sexual harassment. They do not provide details of the alleged reporting dates.
At this point, hard to believe either. Onus is on the accuser to provide independent corroborating proof (independent of the accusation itself). If she can provide emails from NOSM to her detailing her "suspension as a result of coming out" to the media, that would be great. Till then I will suspend my belief in either allegations.
If students will be ranking NOSM low based on this, these students have some other problems.

Does anyone know how much/how many spots the waitlist moves for OOPers? Can't find any stats online

Yes. The NB applicants didn't reach the quartile so were rejected. Their NB spots opened up to OOP which is why they accepted an extraordinary amount of OOP last year. I was curious if it'd happen again this year.
  24. Thanks
Happy_go got a reaction from mohammad in OOP acceptances
I meant to say bombed casper. They gave the NB spots to OOP because NB applicants were below 25 percentile of casper which disqualified their application.
