Your DAT scores are really good but it depends also on GPA, IP/OOP, and interview skills. But if you put the same effort into your interview as you used to make this post then 0% chance.

I literally just gave him a proper answer. He's middle of the pack. He has a good chance since a lot of the class is chosen from there. Interview should be important for him and make or break him. Idk what he was expecting but his GPA is great, his scores are okay. I don't think I need to spell everything out considering we're all grown adults and can figure things out on our own or ask for an explanation if needed. But oh look you're not OP so if he understands what I was trying to say it really doesn't matter does it. Just saying... If you have any questions about how to prepare, interview process, etc just lmk op

GPA of our class is roughly 3.95 but the infamous Nancy the Narwhal had a 3.8 and got in so you never know. As for deciding who gets an interview I think its a mix of GPA + DAT scores. I'm not 100% on this but I assume they look at AA/PAT/RC. As for the masters boost it is a boost to your GPA. You don't get  higher priority or anything like that.

I love Nancy Narwhal. I hope you all aspire to be like this user when you flourish as a broke dental student

I usually just check around with random threads but sometimes I find people with actual questions or concerns that I might be able to help with. Also lets applicants ask me things if they have any questions that they might not feel as comfortable making a whole thread about. Also my comment above if you couldn't tell was actually serious because I do think as an applicant you're already stressed out enough so it really helps to tone it down so that you can try your best to think clearly at all times

Not sure about people's situations here but I was so focused on my undergrad and finals that I kind of just forgot about DAT marks until they popped up in my email one day. I can understand it might be a harder if you're not in school/ done finals

Yes pls listen to this guy. You guys give me anxiety and I'm already in dental school. Relaxing a bit will go a long way towards your mental health so you can keep up the grind

longteethgriffy got a reaction from Super Nova in Number of Tries to get in
I also got in on my first try but I don't agree with Nova saying people are wasting their time if they continue to apply after not being accepted. There are lots of factors that can influence if someone can go abroad like cost, responsibilities, attachments, and even understanding if they can live a healthy lifestyle alone. I respect everyone who got into the program whether it was their first try or after applying for years. It shows me their dedication not only to want to be in the profession but also the drive to go into a school they like and can be proud to represent.

think twice before you type buddy. You have no right to say that someone "wasted 5 years of their life"

For resources, I'd say your actual course notes from school are the best tool. Lots of important info there for ecology, physiology (if you've taken it), chemistry for sure, etc. If you find you're weak in an area or haven't taken the course then for sure supplement it with those tools above. I generally found the Kaplan DAT review book to be enough for me but to each their own. It's important not to go too overboard with resources, especially if you're also trying to balance school. GL buddy.

Judging from the stats from UBC DMD entrance stats of 2017 your GPA wouldn't be as big of a problem . http://www.dentistry.ubc.ca/files/2017/09/EntranceStatistics-DMD-2017.pdf

Yeah boi make sure that 3.7 GPA is OMSAS but if it is that might be an issue since 3.8 is the lower end of acceptance. Never hurts to apply though since the application is ezpz to complete
