  1. Thanks for the great, in depth replies everyone! They have been incredibly helpful.
  2. Hi everyone. I have heard back from both UofC and UofA and have been lucky enough to get offers from both schools. Its tough making a decision. I appreciate that fact that with Calgary, I get to live in my home town, do a quicker program, and stay close to friends and family. However, UofA is a great 4 year program, and the lazy side of me would really want the summers off. Most people that I have spoken with, have chosen UofA over UofC when accepted into both. If I could get some insight into your decision, whether you picked one over the other, that would be really valuable. Thanks!
  3. Results: Accepted IP GPA: 3.9 CARS: 129/ MCAT:517 Completed Bsc 2016. Top 10: Nothing that stands out, but I have Some long term commitments. Some examples: coaching, sports, hospital volunteer work, club stuff, animal shelters to name a few. Interview: It started off great with the first panel but the group station definitely through me off as our group ran out of time to present and we were rushing everything. I felt good after the 2 panels. Very friendly interviewers that I connected with and could show my empathetic side to. I really focused on providing in depth examples for my panels. The Mmi felt good but the more I reflected on it, the more I thought I did horrible. I’m glad it turned out okay. This is my 3rd time applying to Calgary and the first time I got an interview! I hope everyone that did not get lucky this year stays resilient and keeps on going! Goodluck.
  4. Hey guys, without going into too much detail, in the one station where we were to state our first and last name, I forgot to do that. Do you think they will be able to determine who answered the question based on student order? Should I email Dr. Ian Walker? The instruction on the front of the door said state the name but the sheet on the inside did not and I forgot in the 2 minutes I was waiting.
  5. At this point, theres not much you can do. If he's given you his word countless times chances are he will get it in. I'm in a similar situation. Regardless of how early you tell your referees, the stress inducing truth is that majority of referees will put it off till last minute.
  6. Hey everyone, I'm applying for the 3rd time at the UofC and both previous times, my impact statements/experiences have really scored sub par and I wasn't able to improve from the first time. I was hoping someone who was admitted at UofC could look over my top 10 from last year, and/or my current Top10's that I'm working on. I live in Calgary, so if would like to meet up, that is fine too. Thanks!
  7. How limited is the space exactly? I cant seem to find a character or letter limit?
  8. Hi everyone. I'm looking into applying at UofS for the Fall 2018 class. I just rewrote my MCAT last month and scored a 95% percentile, with a 129 in Cars. My weighted GPA is a 3.9. Is it worth applying? The website said the MCAT marks for last years class were 96% percentile and up. Appreciate your help!
  9. Thanks for your input. I just don't know If I will get in this year, I dont really have much time to dedicate to the app since my mcat is on June 15th (the day I play to submit my appy). Thats why Im also considering D.O. Speaking of which, would my stats for that be super competitive or average? I hear its a tad easier to get in?
  10. Hi fellow premed101 folks! Sorry about the repost, but my previous post had a faulty title and I could not figure out how to delete it! I was hoping you could give me some insight in terms of my chances of getting into a USMD program. I graduated with a Cell Bio degree and my gpa trend is fairly upward. 1st year: 3.1 GPA 2nd: 3.9 GPA 3rd: 3.95 GPA 4th: 3.81 GPA I kind of fell off the fourth year but Im hoping the last 3 years are strong enough overall to compensate. My current mcat score is a 512 (87%): C/P (129), CARS (127), B/B(127), P/S(127) I don't know if that's competitive or not in US, but I am rewriting it in 1 month since my cars score is too low to be competitive in Canada. Im hoping for a 516, with a cars of 129. My EC are average: VP for university club (couple years) Volunteer at Rescue Shelter Volunteer at 2 hospitals (patient oriented) Coach basketball (>1+ year) Coached soccer (>1+year) Help manage Soccer Co-Ed Rec league (schedules/scorekeeping) Just signed up to volunteer in distress center (I guess it wont count towards US app) Got some research background Working with people with disabilities and thousands of hours of work experience (mostly retail) Anyway, Its mid May, and I just started my AMCAS application. Is it worth finishing it and applying to a wide range of schools? (Im aiming for around 10-15). Also if someone has any additional info about the AMCAS, I'm pretty overwhelmed right now as Im working on this and studying for my rewrite. I just wanted to know when the letters of reference are due since I still need to get my referees to get started on that! *If I am not competitive for USMD, would USDO be a good option? It seems very intriguing and I appreciate the holistic approach they take. However, I do ultimately want to be back in Canada once everything complete, will that pose a barrier to my return back home? A tremendous thank you for taking your time out to help me.
