Comprehensible got a reaction from Lost98 in Next steps?
Look at the schools weighting formulas. E.g. Toronto lets you drop a bunch of bad grades, Ottawa looks at only your most recent 3 years, etc. You may have no problems.

This entire forum is so toxic. Why are you debating about "how high" a guy can pull, women are not prizes or possessions to bestow. Entering a relationship as a status symbol is narcissistic and vapid. Nobody cares about who you are dating, you need to be looking for someone who YOU find attractive as a combination of personality, goals, aspirations, views and perceptions, and very minimally looks. Seeing the interactions on this specific form has solidified all of the stereotypes of medicine being compiled of entitled, apathetic, douchebag bros.

I declined U of T to go to another school . We all have our own priorities.

Comprehensible reacted to rmorelan in How to minimize debt in med school/residency?
The way I define it:
Misery - spend so little money that you are causing yourself pain (keeps their thermostat at 10 degrees in the winter to save on heat)
Cheap - spend so little money that you cause people around you pain (the jerk that buys the 5 dollar wedding present they go to)
Frugal - spends less money that others of similar income but causes neither themselves or others pain by doing it. The guy that enjoys their lentil soup for dinner that costs very little to make isn't exactly hurting anyone ha (I really do love my lentil soup)
Bottom line - don't spend so little money that it becomes a distraction when you are trying to get your degree. Similarly don't spend so much that it causes you problems in residency. The path is a long one and your LOC is your shield. Use it wisely

I wrote mine in Rochester, because the next closest one to southern Ontario was Winnipeg!
It really doesn't matter where you write it, the only difference was the "no guns allowed in the testing center" sign on the wall.

Rescinding my acceptance.
Just kidding, what was your personal opinion on the blacked out bags, Mr. Duck?

Comprehensible got a reaction from GreatFruits in Blacked out Med bags
I'm super excited for Ottawa, but a little sad I don't get a red bag (favourite colour lol).
Is there any difference between the 2021 and 2022 bags, or will they not be following the different colour each year theme?

Comprehensible reacted to Donald_Duck in Blacked out Med bags
Hello everyone,
Mr Duck here coming in with another catch from the pond of an alternate galaxy in which time runs in the future. I have seen a vision, a dark vision, and it is real.
The vision I saw is a new bag, all black (black rims, tinted windows, all that jazz) with no more red decals. This will be newly distributed to all MD2022 students. Word on the street has it that MD2021 students will be able to join in on the fun too.
Sincerely yours,
Mr Duck

Haha I've noticed this. I know BMO isn't a top choice for the LOC, but I figured I'd speak to them since I know them well, just to get a starting point.
The first person I spoke to wanted my parents to co-sign...

Is there any chance of getting more information if I call? I have a few offers and the location does influence my choice of school.

Comprehensible got a reaction from mew in Accepted/Rejected/Waitlisted??? (for current applicants)
Result: Accepted
Geography: OOP
GPA: 4.00
MCAT: 528
Degree: BSc
E.C: An unusual summer job, volunteering at a hospital and first response, a few club leadership experiences, a few awards, some lab volunteering but NO RESEARCH (I've done a poster since the application was due)
Interview: I honestly don't remember. I was lucky enough to have a number of interviews and they've all kind of blurred together in my mind.
I'm still waiting to hear back from some other schools, and I honestly don't know what my top choice is, but I'd be happy to attend Alberta - they sold themselves really well at the interview date.

Comprehensible reacted to CLIC5A in Admissions Decisions Released Next Week :o
On their website:
We anticipate having admission decisions completed the week of April 23, 2018. Best of luck!
Maybe this is to make up for releasing their interview decisions so late
EDIT: Nevermind, I think this message is just saying they'll complete their decisions by next week, not that we'll have the results next week.

Comprehensible reacted to vellichor in Student satisfaction ratings?
Does anyone know of any relatively recent surveys that were done to compare student satisfaction/other measures at various med schools? Any leads would be super appreciated.

Comprehensible got a reaction from sleeplessinontario in Waitlist Movement
This is unfortunate, because if you're lucky enough to have an offer and also a waitlist to a school you would prefer, you can't wait to find out if you will get in.
