  2. Is it common (and a good idea) for people post-residency to pay off most of their LOC then use it for 20% mortgage downpayment before it gets converted to a professional LOC (2 years post residency)?
  3. So I just talked to a advisor at TD and they weren’t aware of this rate and it doesn’t show up on their system. It’s 300k at prime - 0.25% until two years post training.
  4. I noticed on the TD1ON form they removed the line where you put tuition tax credits. Does that mean if I'm starting residency in Ontario, my provincial tuition tax credits I accumulated over the last few years are void and I won't be able to have any provincial tax deductions when I receive my paychques?

  8. About to start residency and from the looks of it, seems like a better idea to use any extra money I earn to pay down my LOC rather than putting it into a TFSA.
  9. Are courses for professional development during residency like PALS/NRP/ACLS/ATLS tax deductible even if they're not required for your program
  10. 1.) Is LOC from Scotia interest only payments for 2 years post residency/fellowship? 2.) Does Scotia increase your LOC max limit during residency?
  11. Awesome! I plan to pay off my LOC ASAP after I graduate. However, what if I want to open up another LOC afterwards (for big purchases/down payments etc).. Have you heard of anyone qualify for the prime - 0.25% rate again?
  12. Is it still prime minus 0.25% when we finish residency and go into repayment?
  13. Starting FM residency this July and have a 275k LOC with RBC. Do I have to let them know that I'm finishing med school and starting a 2/3 year residency?
