  1. Hey, How do I know/check that my transcripts have been received by U of C and U of A? I sent it by mail to U of C 1 month ago, and have entered in all of my grades and already clicked the box "I agree with the calculated GPA". For U of A, on bear tracks it says "initiated" as U of A obtains it from ApplyAlberta. However, Im getting concerned because it has been saying "initiated" for over 2 months now. Do I have to login to ApplyAlberta and do anything? Would appreciate the help guys!

  3. Am I correct in understanding that there is not specific section for ECs in the U of C application unlike the U of A application? There are sections for employment, publications, and awards, and top 10s, but no specific section to put down ur ECs. In that case would the non-employment ECs go into top 10s? and if a couple of ECs/ Volunteer activities dont make it on the Top 10, should they be left unmentioned? What have you guys done/ or would do in this situation?

    LOR Question

Just one last question I have is, if one of the 3 letters is from a professor that I have done/currently am doing research(was not course based) with during would that count as an academic reference? Or would an academic reference only be someone I have taken a graded course with? Im asking because I feel this person would know me better than a random professor I took a class with. Thanks for the help so far!

    LOR Question

Thanks for the clarification! I agree with the approach now given that reasoning.

    LOR Question

With regards to the first example, if a referee could speak strongly about 2-3/4 clusters and only tangentially about the remaining 1-2/4 clusters just based on the nature of the respective activity would that make the letters seem "weaker" overall? Conversely would the second example produce 3 "stronger" letters individually?
  9. Hi, I'm a bit confused regarding LORs for U of C vs U of A and U of T. According to U of C's manual they would like each of the 3 referees to speak to a different set of attributes. While for U of A and U of T, I understand its just 3 generic LORs? In that case, would the referees have to produce 2 different letters (one for U of C, and one for the other 2 schools) or would the letters made for U of C suffice for the other 2 schools as they combine to speak to a comprehensive list of attributes? I figure its a lot to ask the referees to produce 2 sets of LORs but would really appreciate advice from past applicants on how they dealt with this? Thanks!

  13. Hey guys, GPA: 3.8, 3.82, 3.93, 3.37 last year tanked due to frequent hospital visits. MCAT: 511 balanced with 127 in CARS ECs: a bit below average... 1 year research with no pubs, some administrative and seminar presentation for 3 years, and 200ish hours of clinical volunteering Im IP in alberta and currently graduated. Im working on my ECs while I wait to apply. So my question was which Canadian schools do I have a shot at? Also, should I retake the MCAT? I am a bit hesitant because what if I score lower?
