So I know that in the help guide it says that you won't be penalized for putting activities in the wrong category, but I was wondering what people's thoughts are on distributing "bulkier" NAQs evenly throughout the categories? That is, I have quite a few volunteer activities that are 150+ hours, and then others that are weaker IMO but I'm putting them in as to leave as little space blank as possible. Would it be detrimental to have one category entirely full of activities with fewer than 50 hours and another with mostly 150+ hours, or would it be better to have one "solid" activity in each category, supplemented by weaker ones? Or, is this not something to worry about? I ask because a lot of my activities have elements of leadership/service/capacity to work with others in them, so I have some flexibility as to where I choose to put things. Thanks in advance if anyone is able to give advice!

I see a lot of people posting about their interviews and calling them "below average", "average" or "above average"... do these descriptions come from UBC, or are they just descriptions of how people felt about their interviews? I've never applied but am planning on it this year, but my understanding was that no feedback was given about interview performance, whether you got in or not! If I'm wrong I'd love to be corrected! :)

I believe that what "qualifies" you for a rural seat is just a high score on the rural part of the application, which includes things like where you've lived in the past, what kinds of activities you like to spend your time doing, and whether or not a rural doctor has mentored you as you complete the application process. Bottom line, if you seem like someone who's lived in a rural area or would be a good fit, then you're more likely to get accepted to these seats, because that makes you seem like the kind of person that will get an MD and then go work in communities that struggle to retain doctors! If you've lived in Van your whole life, you are probably at bit of a disadvantage where this is concerned as compared to someone who grew up in 100 Mile, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to fill out the application anyways - worst case scenario, they just don't accept you to those seats and only consider you for the non-rural seats.

    Which Site and Why

    Does anyone know if there is more exposure to specialties at the Vancouver site? I know that at some of the distributed sites there is more of a focus on certain specialties or areas of care based on what the area needs (for example, in the NMP, there is a huge focus on rural medicine and churning out GPs for the north). Is there more opportunity to access different specialties at the VFMP than at the distributed sites? If so, is this somewhat negated by the fact that 4x as many people are competing with you to access these resources?
