  1. Hi all, I'm a third year undergrad and sort of new to the whole med application process. I was hoping you guys who might have more experience could enlighten me about American med school timelines. I'm writing my MCAT this summer in early August and would get scores back early September. Is this too late to send American med school applications? I know that most students send their American applications in July, and interviews begin in September, but would submitting in early September put me at a significant disadvantage to land an interview? Also I heard that American schools do not like when you apply multiple times (unlike Canadian schools). Is this true? If so, I'd rather wait until after completing my undergrad and apply as early as possible next year for the best shot. Thanks in advance!
  2. I believe for Mac, 3.7+ gpa is sufficient. Considering CARs and casper are decent as well of course. Once you get an interview its 70% based on that so your gpa wouldn't matter much! Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't dropping a course this late in the term mean you get an F (and not a W for withdrawn)?
  3. Damn... You don't know this but I've been a lurker on this forum for some time now and your posts have offered me guidance many times. I seem to value your opinions more since your attitude and laid back approach to everything resembles my own - so I just wanted to say thanks for all your help lol I feel like I owe it to myself at this point to apply (seems like we've all gone a little too far down the road to turn back now huh?), but I'll remember this when rejections inevitably come around. If you don't mind me asking, what would you have done if not medicine?
  4. Do you think it's possible to have a good quality of life while doing medicine? Do you regret pursuing it? I'm a 3rd year undergrad in a typical "premed" program currently. Pretty good gpa, writing the mcat this summer, pretty good/okay ec's. Interested in medicine but value other things in life as well. Still not sure if this path is for me.
