  1. Uottawa: does not count summer courses in wgpa (unless coop) Mcmaster: counts summer courses in gpa Toronto: does not count summer courses in gpa (unless it's coop) Queens: counts summer courses in gpa (if all years are used) doesn't count in gpa if only the 2 last years are used NOSM: counts summer courses in gpa Western: doesn not count summer courses in gpa All this information is available on their websites. I looked it up just now as I needed this information myself but please do your research.
  2. That's good to know! Thank you for the info! And yeah...when you put it that way....
  3. Does anyone know if having a mortgage will affect your ability to get a line of credit?
  4. Hi all! I have a coworker from Belgium who was recommending me to give a shot to applying to medical schools there. From what I understand you just pass and entrance exam and you are good to go. I exam is held at the beginning of September and I would start medical school at the end of September if I pass. Tuition fee is cheap there but it is a 6 year program. I know coming back to Canada is hard but also I'm not sure I would want to come back as I don't really have any family here. On the other hand I did get an interview for Ottawa this year (french stream). However I'm paranoid about the idea of either not getting interviews in the future or just constantly being rejected post interview. Any thoughts?
  5. Yall the first 2-3h where I got the email were hella rough. I'm feeling a bit better now and reminding myself that not getting in doesn't mean that I will spend the year in stagnation. Whatever you guys end up doing just remember that every single life experience is a step up and valuable to your development. Everything WILL be okay. I'm proud of all of us for getting this far and seriously the fact that we got an interview is EVIDENCE that we will eventually get in! One or two years, in the spectrum of our entire life, is really not much when you put it into perspective. Best of luck in the next cycle!
  6. Thank you so much for the info!!! If it's not asking for too much is it possible to ask for his gpa?
  7. I can understand that he gave a very opinionated and potentially non factual OPINION but calling someone/something ignorant without justification is a bit...questionable? Do you have the mind of a business man? A lot of pharmacists open their own establishment. Is that something you see yourself doing? What kind of lifestyle do you want to lead? Do you want to be closer to healthcare/science or do you see yourself working on projects, possibly switching jobs often/working on contracts, working for companies/governments etc. A pharmacist and programmer have very different lifestyle! Think about what you seek on a day to day basis and decided off of that. I have a lot of friends in computer sciences and most got hired before they even had a degree! Computer science is also a very transferable skill and you can work in literally every country. Do you want to travel a lot? Every country has different pharmacy regulation so moving to a different country as a pharmacist would be more difficult. But also I think that people make the pharmacy job market appear a lot worse than it really is. However keep in mind that if you want to have a lot of job options with a pharmacy degree you may still have to do a PhD afterwards (to work at hospitals, at the government, a pharmacy company etc.).
  8. Wow thank you so much for that! Would it be possible to do a similar chart but with all the MCAT sections?
  9. I did my research project mostly for the skills I would earn rather than to put on my application. Anyways any kind of research you do as part of a course can not be used to put on your OMSAS application. However if you continue working with the lab for the summer/want to do a master/get a future publication out of it then yes you could put it on your application...but that wouldn't be until next year. If you genuinely want to do research and learn a decent amount of skills out of it, do it. (and start emailing supervisors literally today) If you don't care about the skills and research and just want good grades then don't do it. The project is a huge commitment . Either way if you are hesitant email supervisors regardless. If one accepts you always have the option to change your mind.
  10. "A full-time academic year where the equivalent of four (4) courses per semester is taken is accepted and counted in the WGPA calculation only if the missing course/credit is completed either as an additional course within another academic year or as a summer course. Individual courses taken during a summer session are accepted for the credit value in this instance however the mark obtained is not counted in the calculation of the WGPA." Short answer: Yes it counts
  11. That's quite reassuring actually. I can stop obsessively refreshing my emails for the day...
  12. Completely agree! You may have skipped on a comment I put a little higher as a clarification to what you mentioned so I will quote myself on that one: "I do want to point out that it's important to remember that being underprivileged does not only mean that you are poor and that your parents have no contacts. It can be a variety or combination of many different factors. Heck you can be filthy rich and still be underprivileged with oppressive and neglecting parents. Just something to keep in mind." Thank you for putting things into perspective!
  13. I was there on Tuesday and Chantal said they were not! (granted it was 2 days ago) but it seemed like they were far from full from her expression. Also in past threads the classes were not full until July so definitely there are still spots left!
  14. Hmm it's hard to tell! I read through a lot of past year's posts in the last few weeks and all I know is people debunked it with people from later timestamps being accepted before the ones from earlier timestamp (just like in this case). I think it may just mean that you are in a different bin since someone with a lower wGPA got off the waitlist :/ I mean unless the mail-merge is organized my waitlist rank but then it would make no sense... I mean honestly being waitlisted is going to turn us all to delirium T_T Little edit scrolling to earlier posts in this thread (like a maniac I must add): someone got accepted in the english stream with 7:28:24 AM as a email sent time (unless it was a typo).
  15. They didn't skip anything, timestamp is just not a waitlist rank indicator. Them sending a mail-merge is a much more plausible theory.
