  1. Hi! I'm so sorry I don't know If you're waiting to hear back from the waitlist - good luck!!
  2. Hello! A facebook group with the class will be created for students after acceptances have been sent (likely later in the summer). From my experience, in this facebook group those looking for roommates connected here to figure our housing. Western does have some facebook groups for all Western students (Roommates Wanted Western Students (UWO)) and some other sites that can also be used to find housing!
  3. Hello! Our program is currently fully in person (classes and labs), however, sometimes the professors will mix in synchronous zoom sessions or asynchronous sessions occasionally. During COVID all of our classes were online but this was only due to COVID. Some classes have more online components than others but this depends on the class. I don't know what Western's plans are for sure, but from what I have heard they are planning to continue to offer in person classes and labs as usual, and are hoping to integrate some sort of multi-disciplinary approach in the future (ie. integrate some async/online classes in combination with in person classes/labs). Hope this helps!
  4. Oops! I looked back in my posts and it looks like I actually had 60hrs of PT experience! But I do know lots of people in the program now who just got the minimum or slightly about the min requirement for hours:)
  5. Yeah there’s a lot of people in the program now that I know who had about the same as me (25-30 hours). I think they value well rounded applicants and quality over quantity with hours - so try to be concise and emphasize what you got out of your experiences! That helped me a lot.
  6. In the past it has been 50:50 but this year it is 60 female : 40 male approximately I believe!
  7. My second time applying I re-took my physiology course to boost my sgpa and since my second sem. 4th year grades were not included for my first time applying that boosted it even more. During my year off I volunteered with a mental health supportive listening line and worked in admin at a Physiotherapy clinic. I wasn’t able to get many more PT hours because of Covid (this was 2020 when I took my year off)!
  8. No problem! I was in the “upper third” on the waitlist at Western and heard back by the end of May- from what I’ve heard the waitlist for western moved a lot last year! For Mac I think I was number 19 and heard back around the same time and same with Queens! I think it’s really dependent on the year and applications but I was surprised by how much movement there was.
  9. I didn’t apply to UofT, I went to Queen’s for my undergrad so I wanted to change things up and I wasn’t really attracted to the PBL style that Mac offered (just not my learning style). Western was really close to home for me so their placement catchment area included my home town and Western has an amazing reputation and London in general is a rehab hub with Fowler Kennedy. I applied 2 times, the second time I applied with a 3.87 sgpa and was Waitlisted at all of the schools I applied to. I didn’t have too many PT related hours I would say about 25, but I had a lot of hours in other areas which I think helped a lot. I honestly am loving the program and Western in general! Western is known for their focus on case based learning and tight knit class which I love. It is not competitive at all and I feel like I know all of my classmates so well!
  10. Hey guys! I’m currently in my first year of Western PT. If you have any questions about the program send me a message!
  11. Hey! I took some additional courses in the summer after my 4th year to boost my GPA (I took a writing course and re-took physiology as I was applying for PT). After upgrading my GPA I ended up getting into Mac OT and off the waitlist at Western PT, Mac PT and Queen's PT. When calculating my sub-GPA they just took my 20 most recent courses (including the summer courses). From my understanding, you could just take any course (doesn't necessarily have to be a re-take unless you are boosting pre-reqs) and that will go towards your new sub-GPA calculation. I would recommend just taking something you're interested in and think you'll do well in! Good idea to check with the individual schools though too
  12. I have declined offers at McMaster OT and PT, Queen's PT and Western OT- accepted Western PT. Should see some waitlist movement!!
  13. Hey! I got off the McMaster PT waitlist this morning and I was #19 but I will be declining. Good luck!!
  14. I didn't know we are able to find out the exact position on the waitlist so I have no idea sorry!
  15. I got an email around 5pm tonight from Queen's with an offer for PT off the waitlist!! sGPA: 3.87! Good luck to everyone as waitlist offers come out
  16. Such a great idea! sGPA: 3.87 cGPA: 3.75 # of time you applied: 1 Schools you applied to and their responses: Western (waitlisted) and McMaster (Accepted) Hours of experience: 144 hrs with a supportive listening line through the Canadian Mental Health Association About 60 hours of PT related experience (shadowing, volunteering in a rehab hospital) I did not have any direct OT experience, other than the mental health line mentioned above, but no shadowing or volunteering with OTs. I drew on my extracurriculars and university experience in my McMaster MMI which helped a lot (student council, orientation week executive for a new O-week to the school, upper year mentor for an anatomy course). I am also currently working in reception at a physiotherapy clinic and was able to draw on direct experiences from there too.
  17. Hi Guys! Back on the Queen's waitlist and thought we could try to track some movement here. Anyone else in the same boat?
  18. Hey guys! Thought I would add to this thread for the 2021 applications. I am #19 on the McMaster PT waitlist. Does anyone know how much movement usually occurs/what my chances are lol? Really hoping to get in somewhere..I was also waitlisted at Western PT (upper third) and Queen's PT
  19. Applied: Western PT, Queen’s PT, McMaster PT, Western OT, McMaster OT Accepted: McMaster OT Waitlisted: Western PT (upper 1/3), Queens PT, McMaster PT (spot #19), Western OT sgpa 3.87, 2nd year applying Wondering if anyone has any information on how much the waitlists will move??
  20. Hi Guys! I have a question of the UBC PT application. It appears as though I only need one practical reference to fill out the practical referee form as part of my 70 hours but I achieved these hours between two facilities. Do I still only need to provide one reference? Or am I missing something?
  21. I just emailed the admissions office and they said they are still contacting applicants from the waitlist!
