  1. Hello! I was just wondering if past successful applicants have put some highschool items in their top 3 for Ottawa. If I'm not mistaken, Ottawa used to ask for 3 items before 2015? Any med students remember if they put some high-school activities there?
  2. I see How do you know that Ottawa won't recognize them??
  3. Is it okay to say where we're planning on submitting the paper in the ABS research section? Especially if it's a big journal? We would've submitted by now had it not been for COVID! Something along the lines of: "1st Author Manuscript in progress To be submitted to JAMA (IF 45)"
  4. As title states. I'm a 4th year looking to apply to med this upcoming cycle. I've been working on a Systematic review and we're in the process of finishing up the manuscript, but before we started we had to submit a protocol to PROSPERO and they published it. Does this count for something like an ABS entry in the research section? My apologies, this is my first time doing a syst. review! This is an example of what they look like https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=90030

  6. And would you say any of them were "filler"? Or were any under 50 hours?
  7. For those accepted to EC-heavy schools (I guess Ottawa, Queen's, or UofT since western may not look at ABS) how many ABS entries did you fill out. And if you don't remember, did you have a decent amount empty (5+?). Multiple schools mention how it's quality over quantity, which is why I'm asking! Edit: Also, how many of your entrees were "filler"?
  8. Has this always been the case?? "Furthermore, in selecting students, the Admissions Committee reserves the right to assess, in the applicant's program, the level of difficulty of completed courses and their relevance to future medical studies at the University of Ottawa; the Committee also considers the candidate’s results in these courses." Taken from https://med.uottawa.ca/undergraduate/admissions/application-process/eligibility-requirements Inthe last paragraph under "eligibility criteria"
  9. I see so many people get rejected pre-interview with 3.95+, a presumably good CASPer (as they get McMaster invites as well) and probably good EC's as they receive another invite from a school like Queen's or UofT. Is Ottawa just this picky about their ABS? Has anyone noticed any patterns??
