  1. Hi everyone! I was wondering if McGill is valuing a particular skill/aptitudes/personality over the other francophone universities. I am asking this because, as a Mcgill student, I can definitevely say that it has a more "USA vibe" than laval, sherbrooke, udem, etc. For instance, research experience seems to be very valued at McGill, while I haven't heard about research being useful on francophone websites. Also, being an Honours student doesn't give you a "special consideration", except if you are at Mcgill. Even if it's a ridiculous question to ask since there's not ONE profile that a school is looking at, does someone knows if the anglo university values different things that the franco ones? Thank you for your help! Florence

The UBC Pre-Med Diversity Symposium is an annual event designed to educate future applicants about medical school. 3. I want to review my whole application before I submit and I am finding it very difficult to get a big picture of everything by just going through everything on the site. Is there a way to download a copy of the completed application in PDF or word before the final submission? Thanks!
  4. Hi everyone! I am new to these forums, but I have always searched these forums for help and important information. You guys have a wonderful community going on here. I have a question that is specific to my particular application, however, so I am hoping that you guys can help me out! My question is this: in the NOSM application "supplementary questions" section where you have to declare languages that are "spoken fluently by the applicant", I want to know whether or not I can (or should) include French? I may be answering my own question with this follow-up statement, but I was looking for someone else's opinion to be 100% sure. I am not exactly fluent to the point where I can engage in constant conversations with confidence, however, I have started taking French conversational courses at my university to show my dedication to NOSM and their Francophone focus. I hope to soon be fluent as I have always wanted to master the French language. Basically, I just want to know whether I should include French in the language options, where I could always explain to the ADCOMS that I am practicing French through additional educational courses if it came up in the interview, or whether it is better to leave it out and avoid any problems from the ADCOMS as they may find my inclusion of French misleading. I don't know how else to show them that I want to be confidently bilingual on the application without selecting French in the language options menu. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
  5. Hey Guys! Is anyone trying to use the Calgary application and finding when you login it just gives you a blank web page? I've cleared my history, cookies, and even downloaded three different browsers and I can't get it to work! If someone has been in the same situation as me and can help that would be amazing! Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi! Would anyone (preferably who have been admitted or is applying to UBC Medicine) be willing to take a quick look of my Non-Academic Activities section? This is my first time applying, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  7. Whenever I click "To view a detailed summary, click here.", a blank window opens up... is this problem happening with anybody else? Because I received most of my awards through the University, I am not sure who to put as the primary contact in the information. Can anybody suggest what I write here? Thanks!
  8. I'm currently working on my application and I am quickly realizing that I do not have anywhere close to enough Non-Academic Activities to fill out all the spaces for the entire application. So far for Non-Academics I have: - 2/3 Leadership - 2/3 Service Ethic - 2/5 Capacity to Work with Others - 7/12 Diversity of Experience - 2/3 High Performance in an Area of Human Endeavor Are there any applicants from last year that can give some feedback on whether that is even close to enough? I know it also depends on grades, length/responsibility of non-academic commitments, work experience, etc. But it would be good to get a general idea of whether or not I am in trouble for Non-academic. I know they really stress it at UBC. Thanks! =)
  9. Where will the "old" MCAT be acceptable in the next 2-3 years? I am doing the exam this winter, and was wondering where will I be able to apply, [since I'm not applying to med school next year]. Thank you for the replies.
  10. Hey guys, love the new forum. I have a question about properly indicating that I have repeated a course. I have a few first and second year courses that I passed (C and C-) that I retook to boost my GPA (ended with an A and a B-) but I am not exactly sure how I indicated the course was repeated properly. I have attached the UBC grade selector and the American selector as I need help with both. On my transcripts the course I repeated says XA (and the old grade) then where I took it again it says RI (and the new grade). For the american one, there is a box that says repeat, I figure I need to click this, but do I do it for the old grade or the new? the UBC one I am not sure what to do and the help guide http://mdprogram.med.ubc.ca/files/2014/05/Help-Guide-2014-2015.pdf doesnt cover this that I can see (although it covers pretty much everything else, like my thesis that spanned multiple semesters). any help would be great! thanks in advance!
