  1. IP / OOP / International Result: Invite / Reject / Waitlist for Interview cGPA: sGPA: DAT (PAT and MDT): ECs: Year: UG (what year), Masters, PhD
  2. Hey guys thought I’d start this to get an idea of what people’s stats were who applied and for people on the waitlist, since it seems like applications were more competitive this year. OOP/ IP: Accepted/ Rejected/ Waitlisted: AGPA: DAT: Interview thoughts (if you want):
  3. Hello, I'm a second year science student at university of Manitoba and I have few of my core science courses to take in the future with some electives. To those of you who have applied to university of Manitoba dentistry, what electives did you take? (In need of GPA boosters XD) Thank you in advance!
  4. Hey Everyone, I hope everyone and their families are doing well during this pandemic! To those who have already applied/been accepted into Dentistry at the University of Manitoba, I have a few questions. After high school, I moved from Toronto to Winnipeg, and now I study at the UofM. I wanted to apply to dentistry, but unfortunately, I am not considered an in province applicant because I must live here for two years prior to applying to dentistry to be considered an in-province applicant, even though I'm living here & taking classes at the UofM. I called them and they mentioned the same thing, I'd be placed in the out of province pool. The out of province pool is definitely very competitive, and I'm just getting worried with my stats of course. Currently, I have taken first year core courses, and will be taking lots this summer: Aiming a core course GPA of 4.33, and an overall admissions GPA of 4.37. My GPA is currently 4.23 and I hopefully will increase it to a 4.37 if all goes well!! I am studying for the DAT and will be writing it of course, this coming November. Anyways, if anyone has gotten accepted into UofM as an out of province applicant, could you share some statistics? Or if anyone knows a little bit about what goes down with the out of province kids, please help haha!! Thank you so much!
  5. Hi there, I am a third year undergrad trying to get into Dentistry, specifically aiming for the University of Manitoba. If anyone could help and steer me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. There's a lot of info on here but most of it is for other schools such as UofT. So I guess I have a couple of questions for anyone who knows about UManitoba's acceptance rates, averages etc. 1) There is a lot of talk AGPAs but not a lot about core course averages. If you were accepted or know anyone who has been accepted into the program, do you mind sharing your AGPA as well as your core course GPA? I'm asking because I would like to know if anyone has ever been accepted with a low core course GPA of 3.7 (which happens to be mine lol). 2) I find myself stressed trying to get all A's in my science courses. In my first year I managed to get all A's. In my second year and third year I got a range of B and B+'s. Is there room for error in getting B's and B+'s? or is my dream of being a dentist over because I don't have all A's? 3) UManitoba lists their minimum core course average and DAT score on the application as 3.60 (2019) and 18.50 (2019). This being the minimum, would you have a good chance of being accepted being near the minimum? Some previous applicants who I have seen on this forum have GPAs typically around 3.9-4 range. 4) Are only the top students accepted into the program? Like those who have high GPAs and high DAT scores? Or is there a chance with those who have a mediocre GPA/DAT and possibly a good interview? To anyone that answers, thank you for any advice.
  6. Salut! Je propose de commencer ici un nouveau thread pour toute question et suivi de l'admission DMD 2020 Ulaval et UdeM
  7. Hey Guys, I stumbled upon this test prep ebook which presents information tested on the Canadian (written) and American (part II) board exams in point form. I thought it was a solid purchase, and wanted to share it with you. Good Luck!!! https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B085QN35M8
  8. I have to complete 1 chemistry and 2 physics courses to open some doors applications wise. Would taking courses online be an appropriate way to approach this? Specifically I'm wondering if UofA accepts online physics courses (do they care about lab?) any help appreciated
  9. (1) What is the process of applying for the DOTP like and how competitive is it to get in (academically and physically)? (2) Is it possible to apply for the DOTP during your second or third year of dental school? (3) I feel like I would like working for the Canadian Forces as I always have had a knack for adventure, but if I had to end my contract earlier (e.g. if I wanted to open a private practice even before my obligatory service ends), how huge will the penalty be? (4) I know it helps to be bilingual but do the Forces still consider you if you only speak English? Also, feel free to share your experiences about going through the DOTP and also your life as a dental officer. What is your everyday life like and how do you like it? Thank you!!
  10. Hi everyone! I was hoping you guys could help me out. I was successful in securing a seat at a dental school in Australia and am now in the process of trying to obtain a student line of credit to pay for my studies, but I don’t have a co-signer (my credit is excellent though). Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is it possible to secure a LOC without a co-signer? Many of the major banks seem to offer great options, but they seem to be reserved for students studying dentistry in Canada and/or require a co-signer. That being said, seeing that there is a reciprocal agreement in place between Canada and Australia I’d hope there would be some leeway. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks everyone and good luck!
  11. Hi everyone, seeing as admissions has informed me that letters will be sent out “tomorrow at the latest,” I figured it’s that time of year again: status: cGPA: DAT: Self-perceived interview thoughts: regardless of the outcome guys, we came a long way and that’s something admirable!
  12. Hey everyone, I am interested in hearing everyone's opinion on the pros/cons of each dental school. I'll get it going based on what I've heard: Toronto: + Big city living + Networking/Social - Competitive atmosphere - Cost of living - Archaic program/facility - Notoriously difficult profs Western: + New/renovated facility + Cost of living + Less competitive atmosphere - Less nightlife - Smaller city McGill: + Low tuition + Small class sizes + Beautiful city + Average program - Out of Ontario - French city - Others????

  15. Hello, I am hoping to apply to dentistry next year, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good books/materials that helped them prepare for MMI style interviews. Thanks!!
  16. Hello! I'm VERY interested in applying for the DMD program at UBC and have a few questions about admissions. A bit of background on me... I completed an undergrad degree in Business with a 3.2 GPA. I have yet to take the pre-reqs for the DMD program at UBC, as well as write the DAT and CASPER test before applying for the program. After my experiences I realized that dental is what I want to do and I'm aiming to complete the pre-reqs with good grades and complete the DAT and CASPER with high marks. I'm afraid that with my 3.2 undergrad GPA I have no chances of getting into the program at UBC but I'm hoping that the pre-reqs and DAT turn that around. I'm wondering if UBC assess the pre-reqs for the program over the undergrad degree? And how much weight GPA truly has on your application? I have some extra curriculars related to my undergrad but none for dental. Would it be a good idea to have some dental extra cirrculars for when I apply? Please help! What are my chances of getting accepted? Is there any possibility at all? Thanks so much!

  18. Hello, I am a Canadian student planning to apply to the US. I have around a 3.5 GPA, taking my DAT next November so hoping to get at least 20+, and I have extensive amount of extracurriculars and shadowing experience. Honestly, my extras are amazing. I started 2 university clubs catering towards the healthcare field, I am on the pre-dental committee, I started an organization that connects young entrepreneurs to attract mentorship opportunities in my community, I have been working as a pharmacy technician for 3 years, and I have around 500+ shadowing hours at 2 dentists and an orthodontist. Overall, My extracurriculars are really strong. (Pm if you want the full list), my GPA would be around a 3.5 at the time of admission, and hoping my DAT score would be around a 20+. That being said, what are my chances of getting into an American dental school? Considering I would be an international student and my GPA isn't as high as most international students, can my extracurriculars, personal statement, and letter of recommendations potentially make up for that? Also, The reason for my low GPA is only due to my first year of university studies. All my other years have been an A average or above. (3.85+) . Would they also take that into account? I would appreciate all your thoughts and opinions!
  19. So... deep breath that it is finally over. The process was pretty relaxed and overall well done in my opinion. Now we have the next two weeks to coast and wait for our decision. How is everyone feeling?
  20. Hi I have applied to several private schools Northeastern US schools, U of T and western, and Irish schools. I'm wondering if anyone can comment on my chances. I have not yet received any interviews from US schools and don't know if I have missed the boat. Degree: BScH in Life Sciences with Minor in Computing Academics: cGPA: 3.51/4.0 science GPA: 3.48/4.0 Best two years for western: 90.75% Canadian DAT: AA: 20 BIO: 19 CHEM: 20 PAT: 22 RC: 20 TS: 19 ECs: -100 hours shadowing -1 summer working in dental office -1 summer in neuroscience research -1 summer in human mobility research with computing element -President of club that raises money for children with CHD (started club's first conference) -2 (going on 3) semesters as TA in computing
  21. Hey guys, I'm a first year student. I recently had the idea of applying for one of the unis in Australia for dent (Queensland most likely). They take in my highschool marks for admission and not my Uni GPA since i would be applying before the end of my first year. This seems like a good idea to save time and avoid Canada's low admission chances. Plus my highschool mark was pretty good (mid 90) so I think I have a decent chance. The only catch is that it's a 400k tuition, with prob 100k more for living expenses (5 year course btw). I was thinking that since I would be graduating at around 24, I can grind for a couple of years to pay off a huge chunk before marriage and other concerns get on my mind. I should note that my mom is a dentist so maybe finding a job would be easier for me. Any advice? honestly anything would help. Of course the amount of debt is crazy but I'm thinking that it might be worth it (again, I might be stupid in thinking that, so lmk). Thanks in advance folks
  22. Hi, Anyone applied to Dent-P at McGill for Fall 2018? What do you think will be the new R-score required for an interview? What are they looking for in CVPN's? Did you guys apply to the French dental schools too?
