Does anyone have any knowledge regarding deferrals of acceptance? The website leaves it pretty vague but states: "Once admitted in the first year, a student may submit a request for a deferred registration. This deferral may be granted under very exceptional circumstances. The request is granted or refused by the Admissions Office in consultation with the Vice-Dean. Students admitted by another medical school and given the privilege of a deferred registration will not be considered for admission at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa as long as they maintain their deferred registration." Without getting into too much detail, I was accepted into a 1 year masters program at a pretty prestigious school and the nature of the masters program would only make me a much better doctor. It is directly related to medicine and I have a scholarship for that school and will have to put down a huge deposit way before Ottawa will even tell if me if I'm accepted or not. Any stories of deferrals for something positive and not negative like a family death or illness???? What have exceptional circumstances been in the past?
