  1. Hi! Right now, I’m a CEGEP first year (science nat). I want to get into McGill’s Med-P program, what should I do, during my 2 years here, to optimize my chances? What r-score should I target? What looks good on an admission? I’m super motivated and I’ll do whatever I need to do. I’m just 16 years old so I’m going to school in my hometown. My CEGEP isn’t a very “reputable” one but hopefully this won’t lower my chances…? Thank you so much to anyone who’s willing to help! ☺️
  2. Hey, So I created this thread for med-ps to discuss since I found that there weren't a lot of discussions for our applicants' pool. What do you guys think of the Med-P waitlist @mtl and @outaouais this year? At which rank do u think the waitlist might stop? Is there anyone willing to leave the waitlist? Are you guys waiting for responses from other universities while being accepted at McGill or while being on McGill's waitlist? Admitted med-ps, former med-ps and candidates on the waitlist are more than welcome to share their thoughts. Feel free to do so!
  3. Hey! I’m currently a second semester science student at Marianopolis who is unsure of what to do to get into Med-p. I knew that I love science but I didn’t know if a career in med or engineering would fit me so I decided to go for pure and applied because I can take organic chem and bio 2. I took bio 1 and honesty that was the best class ever and now I’m really interested in med. I have an r score in the high 35 so idk if that’s good enough since last year the average was 37!
  4. Hello everyone, It's this time of the year where application deadline are coming. I am from Marianopolis and I am unsure of my final R-Score because my 3rd semester was a very bad one for two of my classes, especially with organic chemistry (R-score still hasn't come out yet though). The first two semester, I had a decent R-score of around 33. Also, I did some volunteering, about 60 hours but I'm pretty sure it's not enough to make my CV look good. I used to be very confident in my skills but after the 3rd semester, I am not sure of my future for med anymore. Anyways, that is not the main question here. I know that if I don't make it to Med-P from Cegep, I can apply to an alternate undergrad studies where I will have a chance to get into medecine once I completed it. However, I am very hesitant on which program to chose. I heard some people saying that applying to Physiotherapy would be a good idea to transfer. But I am not sure what is the impact of the chosen undergrad plan b program for my career for medecine. Should I chose a science-based program to get an advantage if I get into med? I am rather new to this and I am quite confused about the large number of program at university (and a bit intimidated). Nonetheless, I am trying hard to pursue my dream to get into med, like most people in this forum. It seems very arduous, but I am giving everything I got. I hope you guys can give me some tips and guidance for the path I must take (in particular, for my plan B undergrad program). Sincerely, Jacky.
  5. Hi, I have some quick questions : Can you practice medicine after getting your MDCM degree ? What is the equivalent of the Med-P program at McGill in other universities? I was also wondering if it was better for example to do a Bachelor's degree in chemistry at McGill then transfer to UofT (or any other university) for med school, instead of doing Med-P at McGill and residency in another school. Also do you have to take.the MCAT at one point in the Med-P program? It's just that I don't understand the use of not doing it ; if you transfer to any other university, they will want the MCAT score so.. I don't know if the Med-P program prepares you well for the MCAT. Sorry if this isn't making sense. I can't seem to grasp the concept of a Med-P program. It's preparatory for what ? What can you do with a MDCM degree? Is med P med school or undergraduate? Please lighten me up, thank you. P.-S.: I have read everything on the internet about the program and I still don't understand it.. sigh.
  6. I was just wondering if anyone got their results for mcgill medicine for premed?
  7. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has an idea of what McGill is looking for in Cégep applicants in the multiple mini interviews. Like are they trying to get a feel for who you are / what your personality is or are they actually concerned with your logic/critical thinking/knowledge? Because I said some stupid things in my interview as I misunderstood a question or two for example. So I am wondering if I should count myself out because I made myself sound dumb a few times or if they don't actually care about the answer itself? Thanks so much
  8. Hi everyone, Am I not eligible to apply to McGill Med-P program if I graduated from CEGEP last December? I started the health sciences program at my CEGEP in January 2014 and finished it in 4 sessions, meaning 2 years - I have all the necessary pre-reqs as well. I am asking this because I read somewhere on McGill website and on the application form that I have to be currently enrolled in my second and final year of the diploma of collegial studies, so I am incredibly confused and scared at the same time. If you have any information regarding this, I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know - thank you so much! PS. My total R score of the entire program is 34.1, and I was wondering if that'd be considered competitive enough to be invited for an interview.
