  1. I thought it would be nice to continue the tradition of having this thread for applicants! Copy and pasted from the previous years thread. Here's how it goes (use this format): Applied + (PT or OT?): Accepted: Waitlisted: Rejected: GPA: (cum and sub if you applied to any University using them both) Perceived strength of essays/interviews/references: Good luck everyone!
  2. Hello, Does anyone know how many spots the UBC MOT waitlist typically moves? I tried searching this forum for information from past years, but so far no luck. If I find any info I'll be sure to update this post. Also for individuals who were waitlisted for UBC's MOT program in previous years, but then were offered a seat, what was your initial waitlist number? Thanks EDIT: Also, does anyone know if this information means that for 2017 intake, there were 365 applicants for the MOT program, admission offers were given to 66 individuals, and a total of 52 individuals were admitted, so then there was 66-52 = 14 people accepted off the waitlist? https://imgur.com/a/ga5Oa
  3. Hey guys! I'm looking to move to London for school in the fall and hoping to find some people in the program that also need roommates! ***Edit*** I have found a girl I will be rooming with next year in a 2 bedroom, but thank you so much for all of your offers! Regardless, feel free to message me and we can exchange contact info if you'd like to connect a bit before September Look forward to meeting all of you, -Megan
  4. Hey friends! I kept seeing things about people wanting/wondering about a Facebook group for the Western's incoming OT class... so I made one for us for now so we can all connect, people can look for roommates, ask questions and such Link to it attached below! https://www.facebook.com/groups/534658843597273/
  5. Hi Everyone, I know it’s still super early, however I have been looking into housIng options near McMaster because I’ve heard the nice ones go quick! I found a really nice two bedroom apartment within walking distance to the school. Therefore, I’m looking to see if any female OT student is also looking for a roommate. Feel free to message me if you’re interested
  6. I am feeling really torn between Western and U of A for OT and I am running out of time to decide. I would love to hear opinions from a number of people in order to get a more representative sample of the student experience.
  7. I have applied for OT entry level, but have't heard anything yet. Please contact with m if you are an international applicant to OT in Dalhousie! Thank you!!
  8. I was hoping that a current or previous U of A OT student could tell me more about the student selected modules for course 543. I am trying to determine whether this is component of the program at U of A that appeals to me. What topics have you had to choose from?
  9. Hey everyone! I just stumbled onto this forum so bear with me. I'm hoping to get into OT at either Western or McMaster and I am considering moving. Is anyone else considering looking for roommates? Would love to live with someone in the same program! I know it's early but I just thought it would be nice to have some sort of plan since may is really late to be scrambling for leases. Thanks friends!
  10. Does anyone know when the admission offers for MOT come out for U of A?
  11. Hey everyone! Has anyone heard back from UBC MOT yet? Usually, interview invites are sent about a week after MPT, but perhaps we need to wait another week Also, I heard that the interview is not a 3-person panel this year, but rather will be in MMI format. Is this true?
  12. Hi Everyone, I'm a 1st year OT student at Queens, and I will be looking for 3 people to join my house beginning in September. Its a two unit, and I live in the basement unit with another 1st year OT, but the upstairs I will be looking for 3 people. I figured I would create a platform where people searching for housing can also look for a roommate, as I think it would be great to have a house of OT/PT students. Once you get your acceptances there will be a facebook group created, and that also works as one excellent platform, so I highly recommend you join that as well. If you have any housing questions, or general questions about the OT program at Queens shoot me a message, I'd be happy to help Looking forward to meeting the class of 2020! Kind regards, Vanessa
  13. I'm just finishing my Masters degree now and will be 25 when applying next year to physiotherapy programs. I was accepted in the past to a few programs but was unable to attend do to some health issues. I was just wondering how old you guys are that are applying or average age upon starting the program? I'm aware most people are in their early 20's but I was wondering how many of you started a little later.... I'm feeling a little behind now when applying. Also does anyone know if PT schools count your masters program gpa in the calculation... My undergrad is way higher! Thanks Hoping to get in again! Thanks

    Dal OT

Any past or current Dal OT students know what their MScOT GPA cut-off was the last couple of years? Or are willing to share what GPA you had for your admission? Thanks!
  15. Hello fellow DAL OT 2018 Prospective Students! Wanted to start a forum to hear about others who are waiting to hear back from DAL OT from the 2018 application process. I did not receive an email of confirming my application was received (dropped off in person), however my DAL online says status incomplete. I'm guessing this is because I am in the process of completing my Anatomy and Physiology prerequisites. Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or what your status is? Best of luck! Halifax, NS
  16. Hi all, Long time lurker, first time poster. Considering putting forward an application to the OT program at Mcmaster for next year. On their admissions page, it says : "Applicants require a four-year baccalaureate degree (120 units/credits or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 3.30/4.0 (B+ or 77%) in the last two (2) years or 60 units of university academic study" and then later "GPA of all graduate work will be calculated the same as undergraduate work." Does this mean that if the most recent credits you completed were part of your graduate degree, that those are the 60 units considered? Thanks, and good luck to everyone waiting to hear about their applications.
  17. According to UofT's OT website, they don't have a "cutoff" for OT besides the general GPA requirement. It also seems that so long as you meet the requirement they review your entire application. Here is the information as it states from the website: Is this new? Or is this always how UofT has processed applications? I thought I remembered in past forums people discussing UofT's cutoffs. Can anyone that has applied in previous years shed some light on this?
  18. If anyone could give me a general idea, that would be great! I'm a beginner but haven't practiced in a number of years.
  19. Based on what I read on the UBC website, I am pretty sure that you can upload the letter of intent after you have submitted your application; however, I am terrified about submitting my application without it being completed. Has anyone submitted their application and can confirm that they still have the option to upload a letter of intent?
  20. Hello, The guidelines for the statement of intent on UBC's MOT page state that "PLEASE USE YOUR FULL NAME AS THE HEADING FOR YOUR STATEMENT.". Does that mean I just write my name at the top in the center, then just have the content of my SOI? Thanks
  21. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could shed insight on my chances of getting into an Ontario OT program? I'm really interested in applying, however I'm not sure if I should wait a year to improve my odds if needed, or just go ahead and take the chance! If I calculated correctly, I should have a subGPA of exactly 3.8 (I took a few credits worth of practicum, the experience was great but there were repercussions regarding my GPA as Ontario schools don't take practicum grades). My extracurriculars include 169 hours volunteering with a counselling service, 144 hours of practicum working with a municipal government (I designed after-school type programs for marginalized youth), and was later hired to work with said municipality, 192 hours of practicum working with a behavioural therapist and individuals with developmental disabilities, and I'm currently volunteering with/shadowing an OT who's clients include individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. At first I felt pretty confident, however after reading some other forums I've seen how hard working and prepared other applicants are! Any insight in appreciated
  22. Hello, successful UofT applicants! First of all, congrats! I’m sure the last few months of waiting weren’t the least stressful of your life but you’ve made it through. I’m presently an OT1 at UofT and also part of the O-Week Team for next September. With any luck, I’ll be an OT2 by the time you all join us in the Fall. I just wanted to open up this forum an opportunity for newly accepted OT students at UofT to get to know each other a little bit ahead of time and maybe answer a few questions (from a student’s perspective) along the way. After you have accepted your offer letter to UofT you should receive more information regarding O-Week and the program in general. A Facebook group will also be made available to you as well. WELCOME!
  23. Hello, I'm currently entering the 4th year of my BSc in biology at UBC and I'm thinking of pursuing the MOT after I finish my degree. Regarding the entrance requirements, do they take into account the marks in the 3 creds of psychology, 3 creds of sociology and 3 creds of human anatomy, or do they only consider the 300 and 400 level courses? Also for anyone that is in the MOT program right now, for the 70 hours of volunteer experience, does volunteering in the OT program at one of the Vancouver Acute Hospitals count? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  24. Hi All, This post is aimed at past/current MScOT students who can give us prospective/incoming students more information on the program and reasons to accept our offer. Personally, I would like to know if the program is overly technical/super science-oriented? Thanks!
  25. Hey guys, just wondering if people would be willing to talk about their experience with athabasca U? I am planning on upgrading my GPA for the 2018 intake, I am already taking a full spring/summer term but even with straight A's, my GPA isn't where I want it to be yet so that brings me to athabascaU as an option, here are some of my questions: - if I start in the fall, would I be finished and my grades counted by intake? - should I start in the summer instead, so that way I for sure will have 6 months to complete before intake? - what are some courses that you guys have taken that have interested you/related to OT? Thank you so much!
