Hello all! I signed my LOC with Scotia and received the Gold AMEX as well as the ScotiaGold Passport Visa Card. I was wondering if anyone had a good method of which card to use for what. If I'm understanding it correctly, the AMEX seems to give more points that the Visa, but the Visa seems like it is more useful for travel rewards? Should I be using AMEX as much as I can? Should the Visa just be used for booking airline tickets? Let me know if you guys have a better understanding of the rewards program. I'm looking to maximize points for travelling for carms interviews. Thank you!
Hey guys, McMaster and U of T just released summary sheets of the offers by the big banks. I thought others would find them useful. I would have loved to have these when I was shopping around (although I'm happy with my choice). Enjoy, and let me know which offer you prefer/chose. https://www.scribd.com/document/317668524/U-of-T-Medical-School-Professional-LOC-Offers https://www.scribd.com/document/317668543/Financial-Information
Hi All, On January 21/2015 Bank of Canada has lowered the Overnight rate target. Why does this matter to you? You will benefit for the short-term because the cost of borrowing is lowered for your educational/professional line of credit, mortgages and other variable rate lending products. It also affects certain investment vehicles. The prime rate has been lowered to 2.85%, it was previously 3%. Hope you find this info useful! http://www.bankofcanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/fad-press-release-2015-01-21.pdf Historical rates: Effective date Prime rate September 09, 2010 3.00 July 21, 2010 2.75 June 02, 2010 2.50 April 22, 2009 2.25 March 04, 2009 2.50 January 21, 2009 3.00 December 10, 2008 3.50 October 22, 2008 4.00 October 14, 2008 4.35 October 09, 2008 4.50 April 23, 2008 4.75 March 05, 2008 5.25 January 23, 2008 5.75 December 05, 2007 6.00 July 11, 2007 6.25
