  1. Does anyone know how most medical schools assess transfer credits? I'm finishing my undergrad at BU, but almost all of my elective courses required to graduate were completed at a different school and were transferred to BU as a "Pass". I'm wondering how this will be taken into calculating my GPA.
  2. Hi everyone! My question is a little bit tricky but please bear with me! I have completed my undergraduate degree this past May 2017. I am choosing to take additional undergraduate level courses in order to improve both my cumulative GPA and weighted GPA for Queen's University. However, I understand that for Queen's wGPA requirement, they look at your 2 most recent years of study in which you completed a full-time course load, which is defined by them to be a minimum of 3 courses each semester between the months of September - April (the academic year). My final year of undergraduate study will not be considered a full-time course load as I had to complete clinical placements, therefore, I strategized to take these additional courses (6 altogether) between the months of September 207 - April 2018 in order to satisfy Queen's "full-time course load" requirement. I emailed Queen's directly and they confirmed that this would be fine. However.. I was unable to enrol in the courses that I initially intended on starting in the beginning of September right on time due to various reasons. I ended up enrolling for 3 courses which I am now set to begin in December, rather than September (which I initially hoped to do). I have also enrolled in an additional 3 courses on top of that, which I am set to start in the beginning of January. Due to the flexibility of these courses that I enrolled in, I would still finish all 6 by the end of the academic year (April 2018). Therefore, technically, I would still have completed the minimum number of courses to be considered full-time in Queen's eyes within the academic year. My question is: Is this assumption correct? Despite the late start, because I would still be completing the minimum number of courses within the Academic year, to be considered for their weighted GPA. Please let me know if this assumption is a correct one to make! Thanks everyone! Good luck.
  3. So, basically I did a full time summer semester the summer after first year. This moved me up in my course sequence and I took more third year courses in my second year. I am planning to do more 3rd yr/4th yr courses this summer as well. Would I be eligible for the wGPA?? Because I am technically a 3rd year?? And with my summer 2018 courses, I will have completed my programs 3rd year course requirements. Thank you for answering!!
  4. Hello! I tried to email Queen's Admissions to get a clear and accurate response but however, they were unable to provide me with further clarification. I am hoping that I'll receive some clear answers here! My question is: If I take additional courses (i.e Athabasca University) after the completion of my undergraduate degree, will the courses that I take count towards my 2 Year WGPA EVEN IF these courses are individual undergraduate courses that DO NOT count towards an additional degree or towards my completed degree? As long as these courses: - Fulfill the requirement for full-time study (3-5 courses per semester) - Completed between September to April I plan on taking additional courses according to these guidelines however, because there is no formal term structure to follow, I would plan on simply taking these courses according to the following format: - 3 to 5 courses between September to December - 3 to 5 courses between January to April I apologize if this question has been asked already! I was going through the forum and was unable to find the answer to this specific question. Thank you in advance!
  5. Hi, I have a wGPA of 3.6+ but my cGPA (cumulative) is below 3.6. Can I still apply to UofT Med? Thank you!
  6. Hello I live in Montreal and am currently looking to apply at uOttawa in the francophone stream. I have a few questions if anybody would be able to help me. I feel like the site doesnt give enough information. I wrote to the admissions office and was told that the wgpa cutoff for the francophone stream was 3.87. Does that mean if I have a lower wgpa than that (3.65), I will be automatically refused without them looking at the rest of my application supporting documents (autobiography, etc)? Thank you so much for answering!

    Wgpa Question

Sorry for another post about the wgpa but I am slightly confused. In my first year I took 4 classes the first term and 5 the second term (9 altogether) I had to drop physics. The next three years I took a full course load with a minimum of 5 classes per term. Am I disqualified from the weighing formula because I dropped that physics class my first term? Thanks
  8. Do you need to have 3.0 courses at the level corresponding to your current year of study? (ex: 3.0, third year courses, in your third year of study) If so, do they have to be courses from your module/ program or can they be outside your module/ program? Which GPA is used? Cumulative, or top 2 years, or most recent 2 years? And exactly how is it weighted/calculated?
