IM Programs that let you moonlight

Which IM programs in Ontario let you moonlight as an R3 and at what sites? Can you moonlight ICU?

How can you moonlight as an R3? RC Oral exam is in May of R3...

An R3 at my school has already done moonlighting shifts so I was curious if there were other programs that also allowed this.

I stand corrected, some schools seem to allow it as PGY3.

Makes no sense to me to do moonlighting before Royal College.

I think it’s a leftover from the idea that once you’ve passed the LMCC 1 and 2 you could theoretically practice in some capacity. Our exam isn’t until R5 and people moonlight well before.

This is via a restricted registration license. You don't bill OHIP and get a stipend (about 1500-2500 per night)

I know a lot in their R4 year did ICU coverage in house. 

 

It it was better than GIM I found. You had a fellow at home as back up and in general the call is not as busy as GIM and you got some sleep and still were making about 120 dollars an hour
