bill number
Hi everyone, I am currently half way through my 5th year undergrad (projected 3.99 GPA) in order to raise my GPA. However, I'm discouraged by the number of applicants with 3.95+ gpa and high MCAT that get flat out rejected. Below are my stats, could you offer me some advice on whether or not I should do a 6th year to further raise my GPA OR take a gap year/MSC/1yr diploma? I'm unsure whether my stats are competitive or if my mindset is stuck in the premed101 echo chamber. Clearly projected GPA after 6th yr (assuming another 3.99) is significantly better than after 5th yr. Thanks all, appreciate it. Year 1 - 3.59 Year 2 - 3.94 Year 3 - 3.87 Year 4 - 3.84 Year 5 - ANTICIPATED 3.99 MCAT - 127/127 cars/128/130 All years have been full course load with majority courses at appropriate year level so I think I should be ok for most schools and UoT's wGPA. GPA after 5th yr by school: uottawa - 3.92, McMaster - 3.847, Western - 3.965, Queens - 3.915, Dal - 3.933, UBC/Calgary/Alberta - 3.91, UoT wGPA - 3.93 GPA after 6th yr by school: uottawa - 3.965, McMaster - 3.87, Western - 3.99, Queens - 3.99, Dal - 3.99, UBC/Calgary/Alberta - 3.926, UoT wGPA - 3.952 Or should I consider USMD? AAMC GPA after 5th yr: 3.875 AAMC GPA after 6th yr: 3.
Edict
If you ask me, once you get above that 3.85+ range, you get diminishing returns. I think generally they start to distinguish people based on other factors.
Meridian
You asked same question 8 months ago. Did you apply this cycle ? Your GPA after year 5 will be sufficient for most schools. You recognize many schools have a weighted wGPA scheme. Your MCAT appears to be OK as well. Now you need ECs to go along with your GPA/MCAT. Hi yes I did apply this cycle but it was using my 4 yrs GPA (not listed) as I am currently in 5th yr. All listed gpas by school has had the school's formula applied. I guess I was hoping if anyone could provide insight into how competitive I am per school, for example is 3.847 (5yrs) and 127 cars worth it for mac? Or would 3.87 (6yrs) and 127 cars give me a much better chance?

yaboi
The returns just dont seem to be there, just trying to be honest. I think its time to start looking towards a few different fields/options now. You got a good gpa last cycle, so lets see how you do this cycle, if things dont work out then try something else. And handicaps you for Mac(but not impossible, just need to do well in CASPER) You've also said nothing about ECs, which will play a large role at Calgary and UBC.
