ChemPetE
wouldn't impact my specialty simply stating somewhere in the written that it was a medical LOA would be fine. We use standard interview questions for everyone at my centre, would not come up in the interview. ChemicalKid94
2019CaRMS
Mine had a few questions raised as it was 3 separate 3 month periods. I failed a year due to not completing a block in time so that probably limited my options more than I'd like given I matched to my 25th pick of 45 ChemicalKid94
JohnGrisham
So if you took the year off and joined the next class, and it wasnt due to academic failure, you're probably fine. I've seen people who had personal/medical LOAs fall behind a year and match competitive to EM, Vascular Sx and then IM/FM at desirable locations. MDLaval
I had a medical LOA that made me join the next class, I got 16/18 interviews, nobody asked anything about it during the interviews and I matched to my 1st choice.
