Bambi
I went through Cegep, undergrad and med school on student loans. Once accepted into med school, you will get a Line of Credit for more than you need that is more than sufficient for you. I come from poverty, today have loans in excess of $200,000 while in residency, and I do not see any problems paying off this loan once I enter practice. Money will not be a serious concern for you so long as you act financially responsible. Moreover, once in medical school, you should not work summers, rather enjoy this precious time; and if you do work, you will be working for nothing even though you are paid. This is because your bursary will be reduced by the amount you earned, thus, work is a zero sum gained! Good luck.
