ApplicationTrismus
Hello Everyone, I am currently an Australian dental student looking to pursue a Canadian GPR program in 2021, any information on program exposure (beyond what is available online) would be greatly appreciated. dentistrydmd
All the programs in Canada are hospital-based GPR programs. They are generally heavily medically oriented ie. OMFS, Oral Pathology. The best thing you can do is to contact program directors and ask them directly (which will also show interest in their program). Are you looking to specialize? I am currently not looking to specialise, just highly value the hospital based dental experience!

The programs are generally more well-rounded there vs Canada. Alternatively you can always apply to both Canada and the US, but keep in mind Canadian match is well before US match so if you match in Canada you must not rank US programs. It really all depends on what kind of experience you are looking for.
orgolover
Can a Aussie grad even apply to US for GPR? I thought US programs are reserved for Cad and US grads?

Internationally trained dentists can apply to some GPRs (not sure exact numbers) in the US. Here's one example: https://dental.tufts.edu/academics/postgraduate-programs/pass-application
Prof.A.DumbleDore
Best to reach out to the programs and former grads to get your info. dentistrydmd
