If there's another wave of Covid in the fall, and the 2 week travel quarantines are still in place by February 2021, is it likely that the MMI's will be online?

I think the big "If" here is the chance/circumstance around COVID-19-related travel restrictions. Assuming that there are travel restrictions, I definitely do not think that UBC will have in-person interviews. They could choose to do one of the "interview" strategies that other schools out east have done:

• have interviewees record themselves answering questions under a sharp time limit with many follow-ups and send the reply within the hour
  • *This loses the option for acting stations entirely
• online "traditional" video conferencing
• cancel interviews altogether and do a random lottery

Personally, I like the second option the most, but that'll definitely require a special software that's conducive to MMI circuits. Regardless of what they choose to do, you won't be alone!

@HongHongHong university of Saskatchewan used a different WebEx link to connect to each station of the mmi and everything went incredibly smoothly. The good news is that schools and interviewees will be more prepared to tackle online interviews in 2021 if that’s the case

Since residency interviews are going to be online for 2021, I think there’s a very good chance medical school interviews will be as well. UBC has already run an OSCE via Zoom, and MMI would be a similar sort of set up.
