Orthoptics program

Hi everyone, I'm considering a major career change (been working in finance for the past 5 years).

My list of potential programs/careers is really diverse and still all over the place (DMD, inhalotherapy, optometry).

I read everything I could find on orthoptics but I'm still unsure about what exactly the job is.

I am in Quebec and vast majority of information I found was from France. Therefore not sure if totally relevant.

Could anyone tell me more about this area? More specifically if someone could explain what's the dynamic with ophthalmologist and optometrist ?
