Accepted/Waitlisted/Regrets: rejected

In Province (IP)/ Out of Province (OOP): IP

AGPA (x.xx/4.5): 4.30

MCAT (xx.xx/528): 516

Rural/Non-Rural:  Non-rural

Advanced Academics (PhD, pubs, academic appointment): 0

Do you guys think I should redo the MCAT for my application next year or do you think I should just apply again and work on the interview which is my weakest point, my reason for rejection was a very general, "your application was not competitive enough." I only ask because I know some people were able to get an interview one year with an MCAT score but  not the next, and the idea of having to wait a whole other year just for a second chance....well I want to avoid that.

Must have had a rough interview this time around. Time for some more prep, try to bump GPA up a bit and hit it hard again next year.

EDIT: Just realized that I screwed up my AGPA calculations and the repeated courses really got me. Waiting to get results from the U of M meeting, specifically my interview quintile to see if I’m screwed or not. Does anyone have any experience with getting in with a low AGPA? Would my higher MCAT score offset a low AGPA?

First time applying, guess my interview must have pulled me down since I thought my MCAT and AGPA were pretty good.

It sounds like your MCAT and grades are incredible! I would suggest just focus on the interview. That must have been where you were lacking. I have known several people who, after practicing their interview skills more, got in the next year. Good luck!!

AAAAAA just got an email from admissions today!! Accepted off the OOP waitlist at 2:30PM EST. Super excited to be coming to Winnipeg in the Fall :D

Best of luck to everyone else who is still on the waitlist, don't give up hope!

Congratulations!

Just wondering, you said OOP waitlist. Are there two seperate waitlists? Or is it just one?

I didn't realize that there was an OOP and an IP waitlist.

Thank you! Yep, this seems the case. My email specifically mentioned the OOP waitlist

Does anyone know how many seats are available for the French stream? I know out of province is 5%, but I cant find the information for the percentage of the class that applies through French.

thanks!!

There are no dedicated seats for the French stream. It's considered part of the MB pool.
