seeking1
Alright, so I figured if we're going to make these forums a little more personable/socialable, we might as well share ideas for what to listen to musically. Really, its a good way to get new music pumping through your speakers. If possible, suggest what activity you feel this music helps with, the genre it is classified under and any albums or songs you recommend. Remember, no bashing of musical tastes, I'm not looking to turn this into a flame war. Alright, so some of my suggestions: Exercise Cancer Bats (hardcore punk)- Birthing the Giant; Hail Destroyer Artistic Writing/Feelings et al The Clash (punk rock)- Combat Rock Talking Heads (New Wave) Alexisonfire (Post-Hardcore) Silversun Pickups (Post-Shoegaze) Dancing Daft Punk (French House)- Homework Danger (Electro-House) Relaxation Aphex Twin (Electro, Ambient)- Selected Ambient Works Vol.

unknown user 7
There are plenty. You just need to look for them. I know there are a few, but I dunno if I'd say plenty of RECENT rap songs. Lol. Care to name a few? There were a lot of good oldies though.
Icebox
I know there are a few, but I dunno if I'd say plenty of RECENT rap songs. Lol. Care to name a few? This is all within the past year: Nas - Hero: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pf5cmd0-qCE Busta Rhymes feat. Linkin Park - We Made It: http://youtube.com/watch?v=coD8540ge9E The Roots - Criminal: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Qo7wmPF1w2s The Game - Game's Pain: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6n_GJjwP79s Kanye West - Flashing Lights: Lupe Fiasco - Streets on Fire: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xn2naesJmpU Freeway - When They Remember: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ELl737DMFs4 Jay-Z - Say Hello: http://youtube.com/watch?v=NWyqB8DquaA 50 Cent - Smile: Saigon - Believe It: http://youtube.com/watch?v=INcvz0gYXBE Buckshot & 9th Wonder - Hold it Down: This is only the (mostly) mainstream stuff without even touching the indie/underground music. Rakim, KRS and Kurtis Blow also dropped albums this year that were great, though unfortunately it seems no one outside of Brooklyn really pays attention to them. I have around 30 albums from the last year. The albums from all of the above (except maybe 50, and Saigon's may never drop) are musts. I agree that since '98 the game went from sugar to sh1t, but regardless diamonds are there if you search them out.

When I saw that you wrote Busta Rhymes, for a sec I thought you were gonna put that movie soundtrack song that he did...I love my Chick. Lol. supafield
I'm super hooked on Sunset Rubdown and Wolf Parade right now. I'll make a longer list sometime, but those two come to mind right away. Both awesome.... I love Sunset Rubdown I think it's the best band to have come from Wolf Parade.... Fun news about music.... While sitting in weldon studying for the mcat saturday morning i was listening to the online feed of the CHRW top 30 and called in from my cubicle to win the top 5 cd's! haha I got Island, the Born Ruffians, the Lava Lamps, Olenka, and Spiritualized all of which I've been relatively impressed with so far.... (CHRW is an indie campus radio station here at western, weldon is a big ugly library at western) <-- just an explanation for words that otherwise make no sense. The Law
Bjorkestra - saw this jazz band play at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, really enjoyed their stuff. Basically, they jazzify a bunch of Bjork songs - really neat stuff. http://youtube.com/watch?v=QrgxClsT5kU Of course, another song I love to listen to and never really get tired of is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Y-control. I love the original mad world... and also, you can never get enough depeche mode (precious):
