Congrats bud! It's looking like it will be an expensive interview cycle for you w/ all these interviews already :).

Just booked my trip to Kentucky and flights are darn expensive w/ all the taxes...$530 CAD for round trip on travelocity + thankfully only about $75 CAD for a hotel room.

I was thinking it may be a good idea to start up a logistics (hotels + flights) thread to help each other out if we are traveling to the same place at any point this cycle. Thoughts?

Thanks GGGSaint! I know! Luckily I have a flight booked to DC for the GW interview. I'm trying to change the reservation so I can interview at Georgetown the day after GW, and not pay the flight cost again! it's kinda stupid to have to go to DC twice.

I'd thought of starting a travel thread too! I think it's a great idea :)

Done and done. Start contributing people!

ps: Obviously a good idea, hope it works out w/ both DC schools in one flight.

Yeah I am reapplying. Last year I was too late to get my secondaries in and I applied way too top-heavy. And those schools I did have a shot at I ended up on the wait-list.

Hopefully things work out this year though...off to a better start so far.

Thanks for the encouraging words reflex :)

You and I did the exact same thing. Hopefully we'll have better luck this year. :)

Are you applying in canada as well? Your stats look more than competitive for here.

good luck madskillz. i honestly thought u got in somewhere last year.

i rem u had a duke WL too

Thanks Bannie. A lot of people assumed I did too but I guess it just wasn't meant to be last year.

I was on the Duke WL but never came off of it. Hopefully I can avoid that this time around...

so after having been rejected at UofT post-interview :( and wait-listed at AECOM post-interview in may last cycle, i decided to apply broadly and relatively early to many US schools this cycle.

I guess being early does pay-off! :)

congrats to all who have interviews and goodluck to those still waiting!

Hi guys, i just got an interview at SLU like literally a week after i submitted my secondary...which brings me to wonder, how many ppl are generally interviewed? like what are the chances of actually getting in post-interview? it's my first time applying to the states. how do i actually add myself to the list? what's 'c' and 'i'?

Congrats. c = date of completion, i = interview (ii = int invite date)

According to MSAR, SLU interviewed 40 out of 244 applicants last year with 4/40 matriculating and 5 more deferring matriculation. So it seems like ~25% acceptance rate post interview. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

Thanks a lot! wow 300K?! how does anyone finance that? can i get LOC from multiple banks haha?

what's the interview like at SLU? i was told my interviewer already but there's only one person?! so different from Canadian med schools!

and approximately how long after the interview do you find out about whether you are accepted or not?

thanks!

It takes about ~1-2 months. My interview was very relaxed; mostly talked about me, my interests, why Saint Louis, why SLU, whether I'm applying elsewhere. I looked into all options to get that escrow account but no bank in Canada or US will ever give you that. Your parents would need to get a second mortgage or sell a mortgage-free property and give it all in cash to SLU...

NYMC is the same. I highly recommend looking at financing education at schools like this before paying for hotel/ flight to interview there...

Just FYI, the escrow for NYMC is apparently ~$175k, not ~$300k. From their website:

Applicants who are non-US citizens or do not obtain permanent resident status by July 1st of the year entering medical school, must deposit an amount equal to four years tuition and fees (approximately $175,000 US dollars) into a bank escrow account in advance of their matriculation to NYMC.

Still, that's a crapload of money to come up with in a pinch.
