Guest darren
Hi I am a second year science student, and I have taken all the prerequisite courses for med school except for the two biochems. My question is: my prerequisite marks aren't that high at all. I was just wondering if I still have a shot at med school? Is there any suggestion you guys can give me? Thanks for all your replys. Guest Ian Wong
The pre-req marks are very important, although your overall GPA is as well. The reason pre-reqs are useful, is that they must, by definition, be consistently represented across all applicants. With that said, most Canadian medical schools seem to grant interviews using GPA cut-offs that include your overall GPA. Therefore, if your overall GPA is still fairly high, you might still be in the running. My best suggestion is to visit the web-sites of the medical schools you are interested in attending, and figuring out the criteria they use to give interviews and for accepting students. I've got links to those medical school web-sites on the main website. Ian UBC, MS2
