Longtime lurker, first time poster... figured I'd add to the database.

Regrets

IP 4th Year

cGPA: 3.82 (not counting my best and last year yet, unfortunately)

MCAT: 31S (12BS/10PS/9VR/S)

EC's: Fairly standard but diverse... hospital and health related volunteering (~175 hours), paid work in medical office, shadowing, research (not published yet but getting there), tutoring, travel.

Thought the Alberta MMI was good, will have to see what went wrong when the applicant reports come out.

Congratulations to all those accepted, commiserations to all those rejected, and to those on the alternate list... hang in there!

IP applicant. My GPA was 3.87 for UofA.

MCAT was: 11, 9, 11 R (31R)

I can't understate the importance of filling out the activities section carefully. I really don't think it matters what type of ECs you have, as long as you can convey what you gained from them and your passion for them on your application. I also had awesome references, which really helped.

I was pretty confident I would get into UofA, mainly because this was my 3rd MMI and I felt really prepared for it. I did tons of practice with friends, med students, doctors and people from these forums :D I felt like a pro by the time this interview came around.

I applied to UBC, UofA, UofC, UofT, Queens, Ottawa, and Dalhousie.

I interviewed at UofA, UofC, Ottawa & Dalhousie.

I was accepted at UofA, UofC, and Ottawa. I was wait listed at Dalhousie. No post-interview rejections

I'll definitely be declining UofA as I'm currently set on Ottawa (but also thinking about UofC).

I never really post on these boards, but i do like lurking... Like everyone else, I figured I'd add my stats to help others out.

Rejected :(

IP 4th year

GPA: 3.77

MCAT: 31Q

EC's: I'd say pretty average...

To be perfectly honest, I was surprised when I was invited for an interview but you can't help but hope... Congrats to all of those accepted and good luck to those waitlisted. And for those rejected, I know it hurts like a mother but i'm pretty sure it'll help us in the long run. Now to go study for the blasted mcat again...
