2015 Waitlist Support Thread

Hello everyone,

 

Just getting this started! Can anyone speak to rough/estimate numbers for the various wait-list pools? Personally, I'm in the 4-year In-Province pool.

I am also on the wait-list 4yr In-Province pool. Does anyone know how many people typically get accepted off the wait-list?

I am also on the wait-list as an IP, 4th year applicant. I could not find any information on the UofA website. But did come across this document with statistics. And it seems that about 60-70 people get accepted off the waitlist at UofA each year. See page 52: https://www.afmc.ca/pdf/ADMISSION_REQUIREMENTS_EN.pdf

 

Although I may be incorrect in my understanding, please feel free to correct me!

I'm curious as to how many people are on each respective waitlist. I remember Dr. Moreau mentioning something about ~60 on the wait-list, but I can't recall what pool that was for.

Does anyone know what happens to your position on the UofA waitlist if you accept an offer from another school in the meantime (like UofC)? I really hope that UofA wouldn't take your name off their list but can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case?

Bah waitlist... it's like purgatory. I really wish we knew where we ranked in the waitlist. If it's any consulation to you guys, if I get into UBC or Queen's I'll be pulling my name off the waitlist.

You can accept your offer from UofC while retaining your position in the UofA waitlist, as long as you pay the deposit for UofC! Alberta schools do not coordinate their acceptance offers, unlike Ontario.

I'm on the 2/3rd year IP waitlist. Does anyone know if this is a separate waitlist from the 4th year applicant pool, or if small drops in my GPA will affect my waitlist position?

Hey, I'm chilling on presumably the 4yr OOP list (there are separate lists right?).

 

I can't remember what they said about WL size, but having 60-70 get in off the list seems high to me.

According to the FAQs sheet for alternate candidates:

 

While on the Alternate List, will my current year affect my rank?

Yes, as offers are conditional and the current year GPA must be maintained, it may affect your rank.

I was under the impression that there are only 2 pools based on education: 2/3rd years and 4th year+graduates. You would fall into the latter category (which is arguably more favourable).

Nope the OOPs are on their own separate waitlists. So there should be 4 all together. 2/3 year IP,2/3 oop, 4 IP, 4 oop

I called MD Admissions - they told me that they can't divulge how many are on each waitlist, but that the waitlists are 'proportional' to the size of each applicant pool. 

 

So.. that doesn't say much.
