Cofactors Vs Coenzymes?

Recommended Posts

A cofactor is anything that isn't a protein that's required for an enzyme to work. A coenzyme is just a organic cofactor, like a vitamin, as opposed to inorganic cofactors, like metal ions. You might also have heard about prosthetic groups, which are just cofactors that bind tightly to their enzyme.
