Intrepid86 Posted July 19, 2016 Report Share Posted July 19, 2016 Each sleep cycle is 90 minutes (1.5 hours). The X-axis shows a total of 7 hours, so there are 4 completed cycles. Note how the four REM cycles (the plateaus) get longer through the night. The average night of sleep includes 5 cycles, because the average person sleeps 7.5 hours.
