I think you should definitely put in an application. You never know who will read your file!

On a side note- I noticed you hold a QEII award. Do you list your non competitive funding as an award on your applications (OMSAS specifically where you can list as many as you want)  or just the QEII award

Thank you!

I'd say naq looks alright. scholarly domain looks good and there's a a little bit of social concern for others, although the hours for those are a bit low.

Overall I would say it looks ok and possibly even very good depending on hours of employment commitments during school you identified but didn't list. but the wildcard is whatever level of soccer you played. I understand you want anonymity which is why you probably described it as simply competitive rather than whatever level it is. But there's a huge difference between MLS (or even their feeders) and the local amateur club of tier 5 or lower. Anyways only you know that but the positive is your GPA is high and you have a decent to potentially good set of activities so it might all work out for you in terms of landing an interview. Pretty good chance I'd say too, depending on employment hour numbers. Just my two cents.

Hey! Thanks for your reply!

I have a lot more hours for employment

1. Teaching Assistant for a Variety of UG Anat's in my MSc (345 hours)

2. Event Assistant (650ish hours, have to double check pay stubs)

3. Summer Research Intern at UofT and UHN (600 hours)

4. Venue Supervisor for the Parapan & Pan Am Games (100 hours)

5. Peer Tutor - 80 hours

6. Licensed Security Guard at University (provide Security Services on campus) - 936 hours

7. Office Clerk and Sales Associate at a Woodworking Company - 1840 hours

8. Produce Clerk at a Grocery Store - 2000+ hours (have to double check with pay stubs again)

I have extensive employment because not only am I a workaholic, but I also had to pay for school. Does that help my application? I was under the assumption that UBC cared less about employment

Edit: For Soccer, I didn't play MLS, but I did play in the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL), one of the highest divisions for youth soccer in Ontario. But you are right, that isnt really all that great compared to playing something like MLS :P

- Made my school Varsity team but didnt think I could balance Soccer with Academics.. one of my biggest regrets. Nevertheless, intramurals was hella fun

Employment looks pretty good! Employment doesn't harm or enhance your application. It is simply viewed the same as unpaid activities because the committee looks for the qualities that UBC values in both paid and unpaid work in the same way. That's what I've been told by admissions when I've called them and gone to the info session.

For soccer, it doesn't have to be MLS, it can be one of the divisions under them. The feeders I was referring to.
