Futuredoc17
Did anything surprise you in the first two years? Would you say you are still as motivated as you were during undergrad when you were fighting to get in?Do you have a general idea what specialty you want to pursue? Birdy
I'm in my second year but at Mac so this is the 'halfway point' for my class where we transition to clerkship, our equivalent of having two years done. The first half of med school was quite enjoyable. I had more free time than I anticipated which was awesome. I am definitely as motivated to do well as I was in undergrad (most days, anyway) because I want to be a good doctor for my patients. I came into med school 95% sure I was going to do family. Now I'm fairly certain I'll be applying to OB/Gyn and backing up with family. This may change again with more exposure. I have a year until I have to submit my CaRMS applications and I've got a lot of cores and 5 clinical electives between now and then. It's entirely possible I might change my mind again, but I know that I enjoy procedural stuff a fair bit and will want it to be a significant part of my practice.
