Rx337
Hey everyone here is a thread for this year's Pharmacy applicants at the UofS (a tad late, but I had some questions). Just wondering if because of the additional year of pre reqs added on starting this year for the PharmD, if we think our individual chances of getting in will be better? I'm not sure how many first years applied in previous years, but would the lack of first years applying this year mean there is less competition? I am OOP and just wondering what your thoughts were on this. Thanks and goodluck!
Newbie2018
Hi there! There was 107 applicants last year. I think there will be a few more applicants this year, since this is the second year of their PharmD program. Goodluck!
farmD
It looks like there are 42 more applications this year than last. The 2017 intake is a small -- only 77 people. Prior to changing to the PharmD program, there were usually around 500 applicants each year. The additional academic requirements (60 credit units, more chemistry, statistics, etc. required) and hefty tuition increase (from 7000/year to 17,000/year) are probably turning some people away. 2020-2021 Applications Received SK resident: 140 Non-resident: 62 Total: 202 Fully Qualified Applications (60 cu prerequisite courses; admission average 70% and completed TCS/video interview requirements) SK resident: 96 Non-resident: 40 Total: 136 Positions Available SK resident: 76 Non-resident: 14 Total: 90 2019-2020 Applications Received SK resident: 140 Non-resident: 64 Total: 204 Fully Qualified Applications (60 cu prerequisite courses; admission average 70% and completed TCS/video interview requirements) SK resident: 82 Non-resident: 34 Total: 116 Positions Available SK resident: 76 Non-resident: 14 Total: 90 2018-2019 Applications Received SK resident: 144 Non-resident: 80 Total: 224 Fully Qualified Applications (60 cu prerequisite courses; admission average 70% and completed TCS/video interview requirements) SK resident: 95 Non-resident: 35 Total: 130 Positions Available SK resident: 76 Non-resident: 14 Total: 90 2017-2018 (pharmD program starts) Applications Received SK resident: 107 Non-resident: 75 Total: 182 Fully Qualified Applications (60 cu prerequisite courses; admission average 70% and completed TCS/video interview requirements) SK resident: 75 Non-resident: 19 Total: 94 Number of students in the program: 77 2016-2017 Applications Received SK resident: 283 Non-resident: 197 Total: 480 Fully Qualified Applications (30 cu prerequisite courses; admission average 70% and completed TCS/video interview requirements) SK resident: 202 Non-resident: 90 Total: 292 2014-2015 Total Applicants: 543 369: (SK) 174: (non-SK) Admission Averages 70.92 to 94.04% 2012-2013 Total Applicants: 515 324 (SK) 191 (non-SK) 11: Equity Admission Averages 70.53 to 92.89% Edited May 30, 2021 by farmD Adding most recent year's statistics. MadeIt666
Hey, Also applied this year as an out of province student and finally got in. Was initially on the waiting list. Got the offer about 4-5 days ago. This thread/USask thread however is really dead. Anyhow, best of luck to you all!
Princess O
I wonder if this year would be less competitive because of the CASPer test. There will be additional fees for the application process because of this. also, tuition at U of S is higher than 17,000. I think that is why less people are applying now.
