Heisenberg_
On the UBC website, it shows that the average accepted MCAT was 515 for the class of 2020 (both IP and OOP). Does anyone have a rough idea how much one can generally deviate from 515 and still gain admission (OOP), assuming TFR and interview are above average? Any insight on their holistic MCAT review post-interview would be great! Thanks!
hartk48
I tried to find the answer for that a while ago and the admission person I was talking to said they can't tell me how the MCAT scores are used post-interview. She said that it is 'holistic' but then again, looking at the average vs the cut-off makes me believe the bar is high
OwnerOfTheTARDIS
I have two friends who got in (in-province) with a 508 and 510 respectively. Not sure how helpful that is - they did both have fairly strong GPA and EC's to counterbalance the slightly lower MCAT score, but I think it shows that deviation is possible. bruh
Either way, just remember that if you are interviewed, you HAVE a chance regardless. There is no point if your MCAT was worth a lot post-interview.
RicardoKaká
I have a 510, got WL post interview but withdrew from the WL after the 2nd Round (OOP)
m236
Agree with VINCHER. UBC seems to be one of the few Canadian schools that doesn't penalize you too heavily for average academics. I was accepted this year with an MCAT of 509, and GPA of only 85%.
textbook88
MCAT is not a big deal for UBC I don't think. I'd say grades + interview are most important post interview.
icanmakeyourmedrock
Accepted with a 27, below avg gpa, above avg naq, and assuming good interview. IP, but nonetheless shows that deviation is ok.

If you look at trends I think someone with a low gpa needs to have a very good interview score, considering lots of people every year get rejected with above avg interview and ~80-82% GPA
