FailureToThrive
I feel like rural medical schools really try to force rural family medicine down their students' throat, but I'd really love to be proven wrong. Does anyone have success stories of rural med students who matched into their first choice specialty?
Ezra

They're trying to address the need for rural physicians. If rural living isn't for you than just don't apply to rural residencies.

Many of these medical schools have special quotas for rural students or students from their own province, so i don't see a problem with promoting rural medicine from their point of view. I don't like the use of the word "success" and "first choice specialty" in this case, implying that matching to rural family medicine would not be a "success" or someone's "first choice specialty".
