Wasn't Mac Gen Path supposed to hold interviews today? Anyone know anything about this?

Yup saw the group at Mac today. UBC neuropath has apparently sent out their interview invites as well.

Sask did all their site interviews as one skype call.

Bummed I didn't hear back from UofA or UofC family med. Family was my only specialty first round

How many people is Calgary FM interviewing?

I am devastated to not even receive an interview, despite having electives in family med.

CMG or IMG? Is FM your first choice when you applied in 1st iteration? FM electives don't mean a lot nowadays. At my school, it's almost mandatory to do an elective in FM, so everyone has at least 2-weeks of FM electives.

I am CMG. FM was not my first choice when I applied in 1st iteration. but it is now :( and I tried to make it clear in the second round

What was your first choice? Why didn't you back up with FM in the 1st round?

The second round is really tough. I went through it last year when I went unmatched, having not applied to family med in the first round. You have to remember that you have unmatched CMGs, IMGs and transfer applicants. Last year Queens FM sent out a widespread rejection email to everyone who applied (even those who had already received an invite), didn't hide the email addresses and it ended up being over 1000 applicants addressed in the email. The schools have a lot of people to pick from so they can afford to be really picky with who they interview. Try to stay focused on any interviews you do have, and try not to ruminate on the interviews you don't get (although I know it's really hard).

Anyone knows for McGill FM (Montreal), if they invite applicants for a second interview or the interview done during the 1st round would suffice?

I would like to know this as well!

They are inviting me for an interview next week (Mon - Wed), but I did not apply in first round.

To all of those going through second iteration, best of luck and hang in there!

I still think that they prefer CMGS over IMGS for any residency spots. If you had 1 FM elective, 1 LOR from a family physician, that certainly plays in your favour. Family medicine residency is quite flexible, and I am pretty certain that they prefer the quality of the applicant over the quantity of electives.
