They are inviting me for an interview next week (Mon - Wed), but I did not apply in first round.

McGill will invite candidates who are reapplying to FM for an interview on Wednesday 21st.

Does anyone know if Calgary Anesthesia sent regrets in the first round? I would hope they have the compassion to at least put us out of our misery....

I'm not sure I follow... Do they send out invitations on the 21st? Or interviews on the 21st and already sent out invitations? How did you find this out? Edit: just adding another question - if they haven't sent out invites already, do you know when they might do so? thx!

They sent us an interview invite on the 13th, with the options of 19, 20 and 21. They gave us until the end of today to inform them of our choice, so I assume dates and times will be finalized tomorrow or later today.

I read in the Huffington Post yesterday that UofT had 26 unmatched students after the first round of this years match, which seems huge to me.  Can anyone else say how many unmatched there were in their class after the first round this year?  I also heard Western was also very high.  Can anyone confirm?

Have you been invited for an interview in the first iteration?

Someone here casually added Ottawa Derm without bolding it.

So whoever got this invite, is this an IMG or CMG invite? We already presume it was from the IMG pool originally, but I’d be curious to know what the situation is now. Such a stupid system that 1st round gunners are denied this spot and they may end up in some other field, only to have this magical IMG spot open up in round 2.

There was an article out a couple days ago saying University of Alberta had 9 unmatched.

I won't comment on my school to avoid a self dox but roughly 10% of my class

Apparently Ottawa also had 9 unmatched.....It's looks like there could be about 100 unmatched across Canada (obviously an extrapolation based upon an incomplete sample) after the first round if the numbers hold for all schools.  This is a farce.  They are playing games with peoples lives.

There are 220 Unmatched across Canada

Wow!  Lets hope that shrinks considerably in the second round.  This is still a farce.  The government is controlling health care costs by limiting the number of people providing it, and people who have devoted painstaking amounts of time, energy, and money are caught in the middle.

There are up to 112 unmatched prior year CMGs as well.

116ish CMG Anglo seats in the country with 332 CMGs and IMGs eating up ~40% of the seats.

We could conceivably see a sub 30% CMG match rate assuming its not mostly Quebec grads that went unmatched.

Edit for math: 110 French spots, 1 IMG, and at least 1 "transfer/IMG" spot with Ottawa derm. 116 Anglo spots max.
