What does everyone use at UofA

I’m looking to purchase some new electronics as all the stuff I have is either busted or 4+ years old. I want to buy something that is compatible with the university. From what I understand,  universities have different electronic preferences. What do most U of A students use? I have some apple products (phone and know how to use an iPad) but I’ve never used a MacBook before. I’ve always been a Microsoft user for computers/laptops. 

If any one could provide some recommendations that would be greatly appreciated!
