  5. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-plans-to-slash-tuition-fees-by-10-1.4979524 Tuition would decrease by 10% for 2019-2020 year, then be frozen for the following year. The current tuition fee framework, which has capped increases for most programs at three per cent, expires at the end of this academic year, and the Progressive Conservative government will formally announce a new one on Thursday. I have a feeling this is going to the set the stage for OSAP slashing. In the meantime, this should be a welcomed move amongst students.

  6. ^ the same surgeons have likely destroyed their fair share of med students and residents.....on a monthly basis.....if not weekly.....for some of them daily. Its funny that you think FM docs are assholes since usually they are on the other end of the spectrum and actually respect the notion of quality of life (not just for patients). Be careful of extrapolating anecdotes. Trying to explain why life in medicine is "not what you think" is something I've struggled with for years. My wife, who got in 2 years after me, likes to blame me routinely for not dissuading her from medicine (I did...s

  7. Hi everyone, As the title says, I'm wondering if there are any med students who have gone through the MMI process and are willing to share any insights/tips on the MMI process. I would very much appreciate it, Thanks!

  10. I believe it'll come out at the same time. Interviews for OOP happen at the same time as IP so there's no reason to give them less notification time.

  13. Medicine is by far the worst profession I have ever seen (and I was formerly an engineer who dealt with lots of other professionals and tradespeople). Engineers, accountants, vets, even lawyers, seem to treat each other better and have more empathy for each others problems than physicians do. We talk the talk but it's all BS. As a profession we rarely walk the walk.

  14. Nope. But realistically it only gives you 1% (MSc) or 4% (PhD). Kind of irrelevant for McMaster

  16. Hey folks. This is a method that I learned from the upper years at my school to easily recall the tooth eruption sequence for exams, etc. It was so handy during my school years that I just wanted to share it with all of you! It only takes 5 minutes to learn & master. If you're a pre-dent, it will also quickly teach you the tooth numbering system. Give it a shot, hope it helps YouTube Video: Permanent Teeth Eruption Sequence: Tetris Method

  17. Personally, I never believe in intoxication defense in cases of rape. While substances may diminish your senses and perception of the world around you, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to sexually assault another even under substance influence. In this case, the perpetrator should never be allowed to practice medicine again.

  18. I teach third years on occasion. You guys have literally just started interacting with patients in a way that goes beyond hygiene/cleanings. It's completely normal for this to feel foreign, awkward, nerve-wracking, anxiety-inducing, the-walls-are-closing-on-me-please-end-this-now. And in a school environment, it can be really strange since you feel like there are multiple people breathing down your neck. It's for this reason I really try to take a different approach most instructors do with students; I'm there to help you guys learn, to make the situation enjoyable and fun and as casual as pos
