  1. Well... this story is five years in the making so bear with me for length... It is quite the novel!! I wrote in the forum 2 years ago with hopes of gaining acceptance to UBC... hoping to write in this thread. Turns out it wasn't going to be that year, but finally... FINALLY .... this year. This is the year I get the honour of writing my success story!! For anyone struggling right now, it took me FOUR years of applications to get an acceptance! If you are continually improving yourself and your application/interview skills/grades/etc. stay focused on your goal and hang in there! I am

  6. I'll make a late addition to the results as I try to stave off anxiety during the long wait... Result: High Waitlist Timestamp: May 14, 8:55am 2 yr GPA: 3.89 MCAT: 126/132/127/130 Interview: I felt that my interview went fairly well. Overall, I think I connected with the panel and didn't have any major blunders. However, there were a few questions where I could have done better, which might be reflective of where I've ended up. Specifically, I think I did better on the more situational or ethics-based types of questions. Despite having some unique EC's, I don't think I did eno

  9. My friend got in. In the email, it said that’s Chantal would be in office until 4PM yesterday, and noon today. My guess is they sent a batch, gave time so people can call back, and tomorrow will continue. If the numbers are the same as past years, there should be about 70-90 waitlist offers, and to send all that in one day and ask them to call back would seem like a lot. Again, just speculating

  11. Nothing on OMSAS for me either. Paid deposit and responded on SOLUS as well. Maybe OMSAS is slow as its being inundated with all of the other school’s wait list movement. I may email Queen’s today (as we only have until Monday )

  12. Why so against undergrad? I was rejected post interview last year after my 3rd year and while it wasn't the best feeling, I was happy that I got another year to spend time with friends (and make new ones) and grow as a person before med school; the toughest part was just the fact that I could never be certain that I'd get in the next year (but I'm glad that's over). Unless you're older then it's more understandable. But try to keep perspective on things. How many people didn't even get interviews, people that already did 4 years or have applied multiple cycles. Make the best use of your

  13. It's the same email address that sent the email the day before our interview: edgew@mcmaster.ca Dude, every email killed me, especially because I've been subscribed to this forum so I'm consistently getting emails. The nice thing is that when I got the actual email I didn't freak out lol because I guess I conditioned myself to relax in response to email notifications haha. Also, I was in public so I had to act normal. Good luck

  14. You think you're neurotic? My wife decided to look at every year she could find. She read back far enough that people were waiting for letters in the mail and asking what the envelopes looked like. I can't imagine having to wait for physical mail to arrive. From past cycles, she found a couple recent Thursdays where they got started with waitlist offers. 2017: Thursday 2016: Thursday 2015: Friday 2014: Friday 2013: Friday 2012: Monday 2011: Tuesday Obviously we're no closer to knowing when things will start to move, but I guess it helps to stay busy, right?

  15. Please keep hope alive! From what I’ve heard in the past, there is usually good movement until mid-June and realistically maybe until end of June even. That translates to at least 3 more solid rounds of offers .

    Waitlist Thread 2019

Y’all need to chill. Things take time in the working world. They know if you accepted SOLUS, they know this is an issue, they’re not going to take everything away when they know this is going on. Just sit back and relax, you have that acceptance, relish in it. No need for this worry.

    Waitlist Thread 2019

@APP2019 @clever_smart_boy_like_me I emailed them and this is what they said: Rebecca has reached out to her counterpart at OMSAS to ensure the offer is visible to those who received an offer Tuesday morning. Please continue to check OMSAS. If I hear more details later today, I will follow up a.s.a.p. They also said to go ahead and accept the offer on Solus.

  27. Feels surreal posting this! Have waited for sooo long - been dreaming of this since the start of undergrad. Status: Accepted (off the waitlist)! Waitlist email time: 7:18:04 AM (time that the email was sent, not received) Call time: 1:10 PM, May 29, 2019 wGPA: 3.977 Year: 3rd UG To all those that haven't received their calls yet, don't lose hope! I doubt the timestamp process is 100% accurate - though it might be a good indicator. I wish those still waiting all the very best. And to those who are/will get in, hope to see you in September!

  28. Hello Kiwanja, I am an Ontarian living in Quebec--came here for graduate studies at McGill and am currently working at the MUHC. Have you tried applying to the French schools? I think you would make a strong candidate especially given your veteran status. Also, university of Ottawa, which is in Ontario, has a French stream and Northern Ontario likes to attract Francophones when possible. As for French recommendation letters, French is one of our official languages, and most schools accommodate for that regardless of the province. But reach out to the universities' admission offices

    Laurier Health Science

I went to Laurier health sci! I just finished third year and actually just got into U of T med school. I loved the program so much, the smaller school was a great fit for me. School reputation does not matter in med school applications. My advice would definitely be to choose whatever program is a better fit for you. If you want more info feel free to message me.

  36. Update guys: I called UofT and they said that offers off waitlist will be made tomorrow since they’re still processing things today. They will also send out lots of rejections then too and only keep a couple people on the waitlist going forward (those people won’t hear anything tomorrow). Did emphasize that their waitlist is small but also said that quite a few rejections will come.

  37. If they remove the MCAT then I’m all for it. If not, I find it ironic how they want the admissions process to be more accessible yet by adding Casper increase the cost to apply. This whole process is approaching (or already at) a prohibitive cost, paying more for a test (unless the MCAT is removed) is in my eyes, unfair.

You just do, and you come out stronger because you are more resilient, you can handle the stresses of med school/not getting what you want all the time/ being tired/ multitasking life and work and everything else that gets thrown at you/ and managing someone else's life on top of yours vs someone else who had everything handed to them on a silver platter. It took me 5 cycles of trying to get in but I'm happy to finally start med school this fall. I also am fortunate to have met others who have faced the struggle, and tbh I think we're a stronger batch of students because of it. We have r

It’s going to be a long one. I wrote all of this before I got in, because there is something wonderfully raw and vulnerable about documenting my reflections while I’m still on the outside looking in. I knew that if I was unsuccessful this cycle, I would still read it to remind myself of how far I’ve come. -- My non-trad path is nothing unusual- I suppose I am just a late bloomer who paid her dues after the fact. The biggest challenge for me, throughout this whole journey, was lacking the protective factors to cushion the falls. I have been financially independent, which means choices
