B.C. Election 2020: NDP pledges second medical school at Surrey SFU campus
blah1234 and 2 others reacted to JohnGrisham for a topic
Not familiar with the politics of things, but this is obviously not a real plan. The article doesn't even make sense, how can they open up a medical school that fast? This is clearly a classic example of promising the world, without actually understanding how things work. Political showmanship with zero substance.3 points -
Feeling lost and need some advice
wattsthematta44 and one other reacted to DrOtter for a topic
Hi there, I was in your shoes about the same time last year, although I hadn't worked at my application for as long as you have now. But after I submitted my application, the self-doubt was definitely overwhelming. And it probably will not get better once interview invitations start coming around either, since you might *knock on wood* not get invited at some of the schools you applied to while you see others do. And it will definitely be really bad after you've had your interviews and have to wait forever for the result. All I can say is that the stakes and uncertainty are not going2 points -

I'm also wondering this. It feels so awkward to just leave it as is after submitting the individual parts.2 points -

Yes. Source: https://mdprogram.med.ubc.ca/2014/10/29/october-update-verifiers-and-more/ I believe email is preferred, unless the verifier doesn't response, and/or if UBC needs additional clarification.2 points -

Date limite pour CASPER universitaire (pharmacie)
einstein99 reacted to Lipitor for a topic
https://vancouversun.com/news/b-c-election-2020-ndp-pledges-second-medical-school-at-surrey-sfu-campus Looks like BC might be getting a new medical school... Was a bit surprised about this as I thought the plan was to create a distributed site at SFU from the UBC program, like the UVic, UBCO, and UNBC sites. The NDP seem favoured to win so this has a good chance of becoming a reality. Personally I think BC could save a bunch of money by just increasing residencies and poaching trainees from Alberta...1 point

MCAT score (CARS)
marsaturn20 reacted to Psych for a topic
Just one note on Ontario schools- your CARS may hold you back for some ontario schools (Mac, Queen's, Western) but it won't hold you back at all for uOttawa or NOSM (don't take MCAT) or u of T (only uses MCAT as a cutoff and needs 125/125/125/124 in any order of sections), so those two schools are options for you1 point -
Rheumatology and Endocrinology Competitiveness
WunderBar reacted to StudentInMedicine for a topic
Wow this sounds nice! So I imagine some people would pick to do the 4 year program over the 5 year GIM program even if they had a choice, correct? Are there people who don't even do the MSM match because they simply want the 4 year program? I had the image in my head that the 4 year program is what unfortunate IM folks fall on, so it's nice to see that that's a misconception. Well I guess it's unfortunate for those who really hate GIM-type of work and only entered IM for something specific like cardio, but if I see myself enjoying GIM-type of work, then the MSM match becomes substantially less1 point -
