J'ai appliqué en DMD et pharma pareil, car je voulais vraiment faire DMD et je trouvais que pharma pourrait être un bon tremplin pour par la suite entrer en DMD. t'es vrm pas le seul, je crois que c'est une inquiétude partagée (on en parle dans thread "partagez vos stats..") et honnêtement j'espère que le ministère va y remédier, car la méthode de calcul actuelle est pas la plus juste en terme de cote... si t'as fait bcp de crédit pendant le covid, tu es désavantagé dans ta cote r de manière absolue, car les mêmes notes avant covid te donnerait une cote bien meilleure. Only if your only career alternative appart from medicine is having your own lab. But yeah I agree that obviously it is a good idea to check what are the prospective jobs for someone with the PhD you're thinking of getting and not assume that a PhD will mean you will run your own lab someday. There are health-related job options like public health or data science that will value a PhD degree but you need to think if those are options that you would enjoy.

Un programme « fort » d’après uLaval ne sera pas nécessairement un programme « fort » à Sherbrooke ou UdeM. Mais ni Sherbrooke, ni UdeM ne fournissent de tables des étalons. donc si tu es à l’udem et que tu appliques à laval, tu dois trouver ton programme dans la table des étalons de uLaval pour savoir ce que sera ta CRU à leurs yeux. I agree with your earlier comment, i.e. less opportunities to do more meaningful ECs during covid, which will benefit older applicants with years of ECs already. People still have hobbies and other creative things they can put on their apps tho (ex. virtual opportunities)

En 2016 la moyenne d'algèbre linéaire de mon cégep était de 78. Chimie organique, en 2017, la moyenne était de 68 ! Évidemment les moyennes diffèrent vraiment de cégep en cégep!

Ça dépend du cours. Par example, en chimie organique, la moyenne est de 79%, ce qui me semble très normal et je suis assez au-dessus de la moyenne que ça ne m'inquiète pas trop. Cependant, dans un cours comme algèbre linéaire, la moyenne est de 84%. J'en connais pas assez sur les stats des dernières années pour dire si c'est normal, mais ça me parait gonflé...

Je dois dire que c’est une situation vraiment pas correcte... Nous donner que 10 jours pour les admissions ce n’est pas acceptable. J’ai peur de préparer un mois pour mon Casper et me retrouver avec une cote R qui ne me permet pas d’appliquer en med ou mes dentaire. Par rapport à ça moi on m'avait dit que ça n'avait pas d'impact sur le nombre de crédits acquis, ce qui est logique parce que moi par exemple en ergo au terme de ma deuxième année j'aurais acquis 63 crédits, mais seulement 54 seront contributoirs à ma CRU à cause stages, par contre ça ne n'empêcherait pas d'appliquer en médecine si je le désirais. D'ailleurs plusieurs personnes en ergo le font ! Après tout un crédit S/E reste un crédit comme pour plusieurs cours ou cette mention est imposée, la seule différence c'est qu'il ne comptera pas dans la cote.

L'attribution des stages se font selon des préférences de régions. Mes amis ont toujours eu des stages dans leurs préférences. Personnellement, j'ai choisi tous mes stage moi même, que ce soit à Québec ou ailleurs, en contactant moi même les pharmacies et je n'ai pas eu de difficulté. In the last 3 years 0 (0%) people who are NOT from Northern Ontario/Remote areas have been accepted. NOSM couldn't care less if you have a 4.0 over all 4 years, and are an Olympic Athlete/Nobel Laureate if you don't fit their mission. I'd imagine that every year hundreds of people apply who don't understand this and then wonder why they were rejected.

This is all such bs. There is no transparency. In the invites thread, I see people with GPAs between 3.5-3.8 getting invites whereas people with 3.9+ are getting rejected. Since GPA is 70% of their formula, it would be very hard for those people to be competitive against high GPAs. Can they shed some light on their formula since it doesn't seem like they are following what they have stated on their website. Their is no rhyme or reason. Just speculating but they may have evaluated Casper non-linearly. Our best chance of getting ourselves heard is reaching out to them en masse.
