I usually lurk nowadays but I remember when I went through this process well... As someone that's been rejected once before and got in after a master's degree and some introspection I really think it can be easy to feel discouraged but also a worthwhile learning opportunity. That said it's still important to live out your life and have contingencies. Don't stop living because you're constantly chasing that acceptance. Many applicants apply multiple times before getting into medical school. Similarly many people have other careers prior to medical school. If anyone needs10 points

2021 UCalgary Interview Invites/Regrets

I anticipate invites/regrets start going out today!? I already checked my inbox way too many times haha. Good luck everyone!5 points -
Back in the day, I had a 25 and could not even apply from Cegep. So, I took the specialty program in exercise science at Concordia (which then required only 25, today, I believe 27), got straight A's, then went to med school and today after residency, I am a surgeon. I matured during undergrad. It was a longer but good journey. If you truly do not have persistence in this marathon, then medicine is not for you. Otherwise, enjoy the journey and see you as a colleague in the future.4 points

AraignéeNocturne and 3 others reacted to Monocor for a topic

If not this year we can always re-apply next year so let's not give up on becoming doctors one day okii!4 points -

Facts.

Hey!

Is there any point?
Bambi and 2 others reacted to Captrex_501stlegion for a topic
Plenty of people interview with sub 3.9s, so yes there is a point! Also, seeing that many of those rejected yesterday were 3.98-4.0 applicants, clearly references and essays mean a lot. Also, not many are mentioning this, but I really do think that UofT will reduce the emphasis of GPA this cycle. By changing the wGPA policy to only dropping 2 FCEs instead of 3 or 4 depending on years of study completed, wGPAs will definitely fall. They know this and will take it into account. So in short, there is always hope. Just put as much effort into your essays and securing good references as you do3 points -

Can we all just focus on the main goal of this discussion. I created this discussion to talk about the application deadlines and interviews not the job opportunities. I'm pretty sure there are discussions about that where your info will be greatly appreciated but this discussion is not the best place for your info. Anyone interested can also look up those discussions where they can find similar info which will be helpful for their purpose, but this discussion purpose is not related to these types of info. Post-interview feelings

Felt like garbage after I did mine. In one station, the interviewer asked me a question and my brain had a complete fart about what one term meant so I asked him to repeat the question 3 times, then on the third time the bell rang and I just sat there in regret. In another, I got super intimidated by the interviewer for some reason and they were quite stone faced so I gave pretty bad and like one sentence responses to a complicated question. Then we just sat there after he had nothing more to ask. Finally, in another station, I spent all 8 minutes on the main question and literally conclu3 points -

Anyone currently in UBC med want to share how they felt after their interview? This is gonna be a long 3 months...2 points -

I think you should still apply. My cousin's best friend got in last year with a 3.67 wGPA and 3.61 cGPA. She had a bachelor's degree, no masters or PhD, no research and wasn't an Indigenous applicant. She had lots of work experience and community service under her belt, and I'm sure her references were stellar.2 points -

Clinical Shadowing During Pandemic?
ballsortahard reacted to Psych for a topic

Was your second year categorized as **Average**. Because in order to achieve the 20 credits, they must average the remaining credits. So if you have 5.0 courses 4th year fall + 10.0 courses 3rd year fall/winter, your GPA average of your entire second year will be the remaining 5.0 credits = 201 point

Merci d’avance!1 point
