  1. school interviewing at: UofT specialty: Family Medicine current interview date: Jan 19th (afternoon) date would like to switch to: Jan 21st any additional notes: have interview the day before. would like some room
  2. How can one complete a masters during residency? How do you find the time to do it? And which school do people get these distance ed masters from?
  3. Starting at 185k and capping at 300k? Isn't that similar to what a FP makes?
  4. Sorry I thought the conversation was regarding the average salary listed under the RBC residency guide. Under the average salary page, there is a specialization listed as "medical specialties", with the average salary of "287,665". I'm assuming this is NOT an average for all specializations. Also the average salary for internal medicine was "345,358", which was higher than I expected. Page 173 in this link in case anyone was interested
  5. What are 'medial specialties' ? and where are the internal medicine subspecialties? Are they grouped with internal medicine all together?
  6. I'm not sure if I should be spreading his information since I don't know if this is allowed or not (RBC advisor said it was not, and he could get fired for trying to waive the fees on VISA infinite avion for all 4 years). Because of that, I don't want to put my advisor at risk. I think you should just try to e-mail as many branches as possible and ask if they can waive the 4 years and that it would be the deal-breaker for you.
  7. Tell him your friend's advisor would do it and see how he responds. I didn't even have to ask for the amex, he just did it automatically. I even upgraded my passport visa to visa infinite momentum, all 4 years waived.
  8. Got all 4 years waived for momentum infinite visa + gold amex with Scotia. The RBC branch I visited didn't want to waive all 4 years for infinite avion. (just 1 year)
  9. I haven't talked to my advisors yet (will do that next week) but I had a question regarding the Scotiabank passport visa and the AMEX. Do the rewards points from the two cards stack? By that I mean if I got 1000 points each in two cards, I can redeem an item worth 2000 points? Also for the RBC folks, anyone successful in upgrading their visa card from the lacklustre Signature Visa to something like Visa Infinite Avion ?

I tried to do my research but am not sure on Ottawa/Mcgill/Dalhousie IP at BC , Alberta Year 1: 3.43 (37 credits) Year 2: 3.93 (30 credits) Year 3: 3.97 (27 credits) Year 4: 3.96 (24 credits) cGPA: 3.75 MCAT 9PS / 10 VR / 12 BS / Q 2nd try: 12 PS / 8 VR / 11 BS -Re-writing this summer to aim for 11 VR (hopefully....) EC: 4 Club activity (president + co-president + etc) 2~4 years each 3 Research experience (no pub, running GC-MS/PCR/mass spec) 1 full year + summer + systematic review (has abstract, no pub yet) held job since 14 years old (managerial level) volunteer at 3 different places for 2-3 years (with homeless/disabled/middle-aged women) lots of recreational sport TA at the university for 1 year (paid work) My NAQ for last cycle at UBC was 36/50 (which was above average). Schools I've looked into are: UBC/Calgary/Alberta - for sure Queens (my MCAT may be borderline.. what was the cutoff this year?) UWO (if I get 11+ VR) Ottawa (wGPA is 3.96) McMaster (I'm not sure what OOP GPA/MCAT cutoff is) UofT (not eligible for wGPA so no...) McGill/Dalhousie/Saskatchewan/Manitoba (Have no idea.. )

Schools I've looked into are: UBC Queens (my MCAT may be borderline...) UWO (if I get 11+ VR) Calgary (if I get 11+ VR) Alberta (zero chance I think...) Ottawa (wGPA is 3.82 which is below cutoff) McMaster (I'm not sure what OOP GPA cutoff is) UofT (not eligible for wGPA so no...) Where should I apply for next cycle.. ?
  14. Argggg really didn't want to re-write just for a chance to increase my VR by 1. I'm not even sure if I can do it. Right now I interviewed at UBC so if I don't get in, maybe I'll re-write but I'm not too hopeful on a better score... Thanks guys! Any chance with Queens/Calgary/UofT ? I know I don't meet full courseload in year 3 so that hurts for UofT
  15. 4th year applicant IP at BC Year 1: 3.43 (38 credits) Year 2: 3.89 (30 credits) Year 3: 3.89 (27 credits) cGPA: 3.71 MCAT 9PS / 10 VR / 12 BS / Q EC: 4 Club activity (president + co-president + etc) 2~3 years each 2 Research experience (no pub, running GC-MS/PCR/mass spec) 1 full year + summer held job since 14 years old (managerial level) volunteer at 3 different places for 2 years (with homeless/disabled/middle-aged women) lots of recreational sport TA at the university for 1 year (paid work) I'm particularly wondering if I can apply to UWO? I don't meet the 11 VR limit but is that a very strict cutoff? Thanks to anyone that can give advices!
  16. B.C. I'm planning to apply to UBC but wanted to see what my other options were for eastern schools
