  1. Hope you considered Western FM, especially the regional sites. The number of EM spots to family medicine residents is excellent. Your chances of matching to EM are much higher at your home school..
  2. Want to collaborate? I'm also a UW grad, now resident.

  11. There is a student in my year who is in the exact same situation as you! PM me and I can probably get you his email.
  12. The lottery is kind of like CaRMS. There are different streams you rank in order of preference. The system tries to match up your preferences with the amount of spots, and apparently it's been pretty successful and getting most people their top 1-3 choices. I know people who were put in the "worst" stream who still matched to competitive specialties (emerg, optho, etc.). If you can plan out your electives well, it doesn't really matter what stream you get imo.
  13. Each incoming year at WRC has a cadaver that they split for dissections. Prosections (previously dissected ones done by professional anatomists) have been shown to be more conducive to learning than dissections actually. If you go on other medical student websites, most if not all actually prefer prosections. You waste a lot of time digging through fat and unrelated tissues. 6 hours of lectures (Monday and Friday mornings) 3 hours clinical skills 3 hours professional competencies 6 hours PBL We will also have random little extra sessions thrown in there - extra consolidatio
